Capps worked around a single to record a scoreless inning in Tuesday's victory over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
It was Capps' first scoreless appearance in four chances since returning from the disabled list Aug. 7, but he has still yet to register his first strikeout of the 2017 season. The 27-year-old hasn't displayed the upper-90s fastball he is known for, averaging just 92.6 mph since his activation. Capps is coming off of Tommy John surgery, so it may take some time until he rediscovers his dominant form.

Capps was charged with three runs over two-thirds of an inning in Monday's loss to Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Capps struggled in his 2017 debut, loading the bases via a double and two walks before being lifted from the game. The 27-year-old watched all three of his baserunners cross home plate following an eighth-inning grand slam off the bat of Patrick Kivlehan. The flamethrowing righty was dominant in his last season prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery (1.16 ERA and 16.8 K/9), so there is certainly value in his arm if he can get back on track. That said, fantasy owners should take a patient approach with Capps, especially considering that he won't be in line for many save opportunities with the Padres' current bullpen configuration.

Capps was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Capps has been slowly making his way back from Tommy John surgery, but he is set to rejoin the big club after compiling a healthy 2.81 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 25.2 innings with the Chihuahuas. He should immediately slide into the backend of the Padres' bullpen, and he could eventually work himself into save situations if he pitches well. Buddy Baumann was sent back to the minors in a corresponding move.

Capps (ankle) has pitched well since returning from the minor league disabled list July 14, firing seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in four appearances.
EDGE Analysis
Capps has come along slowly this season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he has been pitching well lately and could find himself back in the majors soon, according to Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune. The Padres traded away their closer Brandon Maurer on Monday and they may not be done making moves prior to next week's trade deadline. If and when Capps returns to the majors, he could find himself in the mix for closing duties right off the bat, something fantasy owners hunting for saves should keep an eye on.

Capps was placed on the 7-day disabled list with Triple-A El Paso due to an ankle injury, Dennis Lin of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Capps reportedly twisted his ankle completing conditioning exercises Tuesday, and given how liberally minor-league teams use the DL, this doesn't seem like too serious of an issue. However, little is known about this injury at this time, and given the hurler's uncanny ability to get injured, don't be surprised if the Padres use kid gloves in his recovery process. Capps is unable to return until after the All-Star break.

Capps (elbow) was activated from the 60-day DL on Saturday and optioned to Triple-A El Paso, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Capps will effectively continue his rehab from Tommy John surgery with El Paso for the time being, having hit some roadblocks on his way back to the big leagues. He struggled during his initial rehab assignment back in April and was sent back to extended spring training to work on his mechanics. A recent live session drew mixed reviews, so apparently there's still work to be done.

Capps (elbow ) drew mixed reviews while pitching to live hitters Tuesday, but will throw again Friday, Dennis Lin of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The news is concerning considering Capps had been pulled off a previous rehab stint after struggling with his mechanics, but the right-hander will continue seeing opportunities to improve at extended spring training. The Padres will continue to closely monitor the young reliever's progression as he returns from Tommy John surgery, so a timetable for his return to action should emerge within the coming weeks, but don't expect him back in the majors until he can correct his delivery.

Capps (elbow) is expected to face live hitters at extended spring training this week, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres pulled Capps off his rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso earlier this month to have him refine his mechanics at extended spring training. After apparently showing progress in that regard in the last couple of weeks, Capps will test himself against hitters once again as he prepares for an eventual return from the 60-day disabled list. Capps will likely need to head out on another rehab assignment at Triple-A and find some success in those appearances before the Padres would ask him to contribute for the big club.

Capps (elbow) was placed on the 60-day disabled list Sunday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
After struggling mightily in April while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery at Triple-A El Paso, Capps has since returned to extended spring training to work out the kinks with his mechanic. It doesn't sound like he's experienced any setbacks with his right elbow, but since Capps is still likely several weeks away from being activated by the Padres, it was an easy decision to move him to the 60-day DL. The transaction clears up a 40-man roster spot for Chase d'Arnaud, who the Padres claimed off waivers from the Red Sox on Sunday.

Capps (elbow) is still throwing in Arizona at extended spring training, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Capps was sent back to Arizona a couple weeks ago to work on his mechanics after struggling with Triple-A El Paso, and there is no word yet on his eventual return to El Paso for a rehab assignment. An updated return date should start to materialize once he is able to resume his rehab assignment.
