Capps has struggled with his command during Grapefruit League action, allowing five earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched.
Capps walked four in his second outing of the spring and hit a pair of batters in his latest appearance. Though he continues to offer plus velocity and plenty of strikeouts, Capps' erratic command could ultimately cost him an Opening Day roster spot.

Capps allowed one run and struck out two over 1.2 innings during his return to the mound against the Mets on Tuesday.
It was Capps' first action since landing on the disabled list in May. The fireballer was acquired last offseason in the Logan Morrison deal and logged just 12 innings pitched before sustaining the elbow injury. Capps sat in the mid-90s with his fastball Tuesday, touching 97 MPH on a few throws, while tossing 20 of his 30 pitches for strikes.

Capps (elbow) remains on track to rejoin the Marlins when rosters expand Sept. 1, the Miami Herald reports.
On the shelf since a May elbow injury, Capps has progressed to rehab-game action with the Marlins Gulf Coast League affiliate and is scheduled to throw for High-A Jupiter on Saturday. It's unclear if he will be quite ready for game action when he is recalled, but it is an encouraging sign that the Marlins plan to get him back with the club.

Marlins transferred RHP Carter Capps from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears room on the 40-man roster for the addition of Justin Bour. Capps will undergo a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews but is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery.

Carter Capps will get a second opinion and have his right elbow examined by Dr. James Andrews.
It's never a good thing when a pitcher has to see Dr. James Andrews. The Marlins recently shut down Capps for four weeks with a sprained right elbow. Tommy John surgery remains a possibility, and the Marlins will know for sure their course of action once the examination is complete. Capps posted a 3.00 with a 15/3 K/BB ratio in 12 relief innings.
