Capps has struggled with his command during Grapefruit League action, allowing five earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched. Capps walked four in his second outing of the spring and hit a pair of batters in his latest appearance. Though he continues to offer plus velocity and plenty of strikeouts, Capps' erratic command could ultimately cost him an Opening Day roster spot.

Capps allowed one run and struck out two over 1.2 innings during his return to the mound against the Mets on Tuesday. It was Capps' first action since landing on the disabled list in May. The fireballer was acquired last offseason in the Logan Morrison deal and logged just 12 innings pitched before sustaining the elbow injury. Capps sat in the mid-90s with his fastball Tuesday, touching 97 MPH on a few throws, while tossing 20 of his 30 pitches for strikes.

It's unclear if he will be quite ready for game action when he is recalled, but it is an encouraging sign that the Marlins plan to get him back with the club.

He could return sometime in August.
