USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Red Sox are "pushing hard" for the White Sox' Carlos Quentin and Matt Thornton. Nightengale cautions, however, that the White Sox would "have to be overwhelmed with prospects" in order to do a deal, which is no surprise given that they're still very much in the AL Central race. Quentin has been linked to several teams, while the Yankees and Rangers are also interested in Thornton.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Carlos Quentin is now expected to be dealt. The White Sox are still very much in contention in the American League Central, however, so it's going to take a serious package of talent to lure them into a trade. Quentin, 28, has a solid .863 OPS and 20 home runs in 96 games this season. The Braves, thus far, have been his most active suitor, but the Phillies are also known to have interest.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Braves are "hot" for Carlos Quentin. Not surprisingly, the White Sox are quite fond of the Braves' wealth of pitching prospects. The only catch is that the White Sox are worried about Quentin's potential replacement Dayan Viciedo. The top prospect hasn't played since Saturday due to a thumb injury.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Phillies "have done background work" on Carlos Quentin. Carlos Beltran is likely headed for San Francisco and the Astros reportedly backed out of a deal that would have sent Hunter Pence to Philadelphia, so now Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. is looking at alternatives for the middle of his lineup. Quentin, 28, entered Wednesday's action batting .265/.356/.516 with 20 homers, 62 RBI and an .872 OPS this season. He is making $5 million this season and remains under team control though 2012.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Phillies have been scouting Carlos Quentin. It's obvious at this point that the Phils are going to acquire a right-handed hitting outfielder before the deadline, it's just a matter of who it winds up being. In addition to Quentin, they've been linked to Carlos Beltran, Hunter Pence, Melky Cabrera and B.J. Upton, among others. Quentin is making $5.05 million this season and will enter his final year of arbitration over the winter.

Carlos Quentin provided the only offense the White Sox would need Friday with a three-run homer off the Indians' Carlos Carrasco. He also added a pair of singles, with the fifth-inning blast represented the only runs scored in the game. Quentin has now gone deep three times over his last six contests and has 20 longballs on the year to go along with 60 RBI.

Carlos Quentin's fifth inning solo homer would be all the offense the White Sox could muster in a 2-1, 11-inning loss to the Royals on Wednesday evening. He took a Bruce Chen pitch to deep left. As healthy as he's been in years, Quentin is the owner of a solid .261/19/57 triple-crown slash through his first 326 at-bats this season.

Carlos Quentin is not in Thursday's lineup against the Twins. He's 0-for-17 with six strikeouts in his career against Carl Pavano, so sitting him is understandable. Mark Teahen will make the start in right field Thursday and bat eighth.

Carlos Quentin had a sacrifice fly in Saturday's win over the Nationals. It was the only run of the game until the White Sox tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Quentin missed Friday's game for personal reasons.
