According to Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres' sale to the O'Malley group was completed Monday night.
The final step is getting the approval of other Major League Baseball owners, which could happen as soon as August 16 when the owners meet in Denver. The price tag to purchase majority control from outgoing owner John Moores will be $800 million, which includes $200 million for a portion of the team's equity in Fox Sports San Diego. The O'Malley group includes former Dodgers owner Peter O'Malley, his sons Kevin and Brian, his nephews Peter and Tom Seidler, pro golfer Phil Mickelson and San Diego businessman Ron Fowler.

Cameron Maybin (wrist) missed his sixth straight start Monday.
It appeared that Maybin was close to returning after he logged an at-bat during Saturday's game, but the Padres are still trying to keep him from swinging a bat as the wrist heals. "He's headed the right direction," said Padres manager Bud Black. "Right now, it's not going to be a stagnant [situation]. He's going to get better." It's not clear when he'll be ready to return, but the Padres have no immediate plans to place him on the disabled list.

Cameron Maybin (wrist) stole two bases in the eighth inning of Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rockies after entering as a pinch-runner.
The steals were his 19th and 20th of the season. Maybin stayed in the game to play defense in the ninth, but went without a plate appearance. Although Maybin hasn't started since Tuesday, he should be close to a return to the starting lineup after pinch-hitting in Saturday's loss.

Cameron Maybin will not require an MRI for his sore right wrist.
He won't at this time, anyway, but it's possible he'll need one if his wrist doesn't improve quickly. "A little banged up, a little soreness," Maybin said of his wrist. He's considered day-to-day.

Cameron Maybin went 3-for-5 and scored a run, helping to deliver the Padres a 7-2 victory over the Dodgers on Sunday.
Maybin has been a tremendous disappointment on the season, hitting a paltry .213 with four homers, 24 RBI and 16 stolen bases. The 25-year-old speedster still has all the talent in the world, and is more than capable of turning things around in the second half, but he's been a very difficult start in fantasy leagues at this point.

Attempting unsuccessfully to catch Edwin Maysonet's triple, Maybin hit the wall and was replaced by Chris Denorfia, with Will Venable shifting to center. Padres manager Bud Black said after the game that Maybin had a sore neck but should be fine.
