Cameron Maybin (wrist) and Logan Forsythe (knee) are expected to miss time in spring training this week. Neither of the injuries is considered serious. The Padres will continue to evaluate both players on a day-to-day basis going forward.

It doesn't sound like more than a day-to-day thing, though. "It's doing OK, it's still a little sore," said manager Bud Black. "We spoke today about if starting today's game would be beneficial. We decided that getting off the Achilles was a good idea. We hope the pain subsides a little."

Cameron Maybin went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three runs scored as the Padres topped the Cardinals 11-3 on Monday night. The homer was Maybin's first since Aug. 2, as a wrist injury has robbed him of his power. Still, he's raised his average from .213 a month ago to .245 now. He's had two four-hit games and three three-hit games since Aug. 19.

Cameron Maybin had a nice night at the plate in Friday's 5-4 victory over the Rockies, going 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and stolen base. It's been a disappointing season for the 25-year-old outfielder, hitting just .234/.306/.333 with six homers and 39 RBI. He has managed to swipe 25 bases though, which drives his fantasy value and makes him still a very useful asset in most fantasy formats.

All of those hits have been singles -- with his wrist problems, his power stroke just isn't there right now -- but he's making adjustments that could pay off in the long run.

Cameron Maybin went 4-for-5 with three RBI and his 21st stolen base in Sunday's win over the Giants. All four hits were singles for Maybin, who was just 9-for-51 (.176) in August coming into this afternoon. Astonishingly, he's had only four multi-hit games since the All-Star break. The 21 swipes are a decent silver lining for his fantasy owners, but Maybin won't approach the 40 bags he swiped in 2011.

According to Barry M. Bloom of MLB.com, MLB owners approved the sale of the Padres on Thursday morning. The sale was put to a vote on MLB's quarterly ownership meetings. Outgoing owner John Moores sold the club for $800 million to a group headed by San Diego businessman Ron Fowler. The deal includes a stake of team's equity in Fox Sports San Diego. The new ownership group also includes former Dodgers owner Peter O'Malley, his sons Kevin and Brian, his nephews Peter and Tom Seidler, and pro golfer Phil Mickelson.
