Maybin sat out of Tuesday's tilt versus the Pirates due to an issue with his throwing shoulder, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The issue reportedly rose during the offseason while he was at home. It doesn't appear to be too serious, however, as Maybin is expected to make his return Wednesday as a designated hitter in one of the split-squad games. It is worth monitoring over the course of spring training if his shoulder continues to give him problems, though.

Maybin will be looking to win the Tigers' starting center-field spot in spring training, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He and Anthony Gose will square off in Detroit's lone positional job battle this spring. Maybin seems like the current favorite, as the Tigers made a play to bring their former first-round pick back into the fold following his rebound season in Atlanta, after Gose's strikeout rate pushed close to 30 percent in the second half. That said, the team appears intent on making Maybin earn the job with a strong showing in Grapefruit League play.

Maybin was traded to the Tigers Friday in exchange for Ian Krol and Gabe Speier.
EDGE Analysis
Maybin had something of a bounce-back season in his lone year in Atlanta after a few down years, slashing .267/.327/.370 while reaching career highs with 10 home runs and 59 RBI. The Tigers went with Anthony Gose in center field in 2015, but Maybin figures to take on an everyday role in Detroit. He's still signed on through the end of the 2017 season and will be just 29 years old by the start of the 2016 season.

Maybin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Maybin has been receiving consistent starts over Michael Bourn when healthy, but this should be standard rest for the 28-year-old. Bourn will slot into center field and bat eighth.

Maybin went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Maybin has endured a rough September, but his bat has finally awakened some over the last three games. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .455 (5-for-11) with three runs scored and three RBI over that stretch. Maybin has turned in a generally solid offensive campaign during a tough season for the Braves, posting a .265/.327/.371 line and 22 steals in 28 attempts.

Maybin is back in the lineup Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
He missed a good chunk of time with an eye issue, but after getting pinch-hit appearances in each of the last two games he is now ready to handle center field down the stretch. Maybin is hitting sixth Wednesday.

Maybin (eye) has been cleared to play and is expected back in the lineup Wednesday, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old is out of the lineup Tuesday for an eighth consecutive game, but apparently his absence is not related to the eye issue, as manager Fredi Gonzalez said he's simply playing the matchup with Michael Bourn in center against lefty Mark Buehrle. It sounds like Maybin will be back in center and the No. 2 spot in the order Wednesday.

Maybin (eye) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
It was thought that Maybin would be able to return to action Tuesday, but his eye injury will keep him sidelined once again. The Braves have not provided an update on Maybin's status in a few days, but he should still have a chance to return to action sometime this week.

Maybin (eye) expects to return to the lineup Tuesday, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Maybin will miss a couple more games, but he said his vision is improving daily. As long as he avoids any setbacks before game time Tuesday, he should be back in the lineup that night.

Maybin (eye) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Maybin will miss another game while recovering from his eye injury. He could return to the field shortly, however, with manager Fredi Gonzalez saying there is a possibility Maybin could be in the lineup for Sunday's series finale.
