Smith (8-10) allowed three runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts across 5.2 innings while taking a loss against the Brewers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old finished an out shy of a second straight quality start, but Smith still dropped his fourth consecutive decision and sixth of his last seven. Smith has not pitched well at all since the beginning of August, going 1-6 with a 5.74 ERA. Overall, he owns a 4.13 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 160 strikeouts in 139.1 innings this season. Smith will look to break his losing streak at the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Smith tossed six shutout frames while allowing only four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts during a no-decision against the Royals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old did more than enough to pick up a win Friday, turning in his best outing since July 23, but the Marlins bullpen blew his two-run lead in the seventh. Smith remains 8-9 with a 4.11 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 156 strikeouts in 133.2 innings this season. He will start next at home against the Brewers on Thursday.

Smith (8-9) allowed seven runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts in the Marlins' 9-3 loss to the Nationals on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has now let in at least five runs in four of his last five starts. Prior to his recent struggles, the southpaw held a respectable 3.35 ERA, which has now ballooned to a 4.30. It doesn't help that Smith has to pitch in a division with the Nationals, Braves, Phillies and Mets; all who can turn on the heat at the plate at any given moment. Smith will have a much easier opponent in the Royals as he looks to turn things around against them Saturday in Miami.

Smith (8-8) allowed five earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five across 4.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Smith was burned by the long ball, surrendering a pair of homers that accounted for three of his five earned runs. While his performance was not strong before being pulled, he was also let down by reliever Tyler Kinley, who allowed both inherited runners to cross the plate. Smith has run into some significant trouble in three of his last four starts, surrendering 17 earned runs across 20.1 innings in that span. That's inflated his ERA over to a mark over 4.00 for the first time since April 7. He'll look to get back on track in his next appearance, currently scheduled for Sunday at Washington.

Smith (8-7) gave up five runs on three hits and four walks while striking out seven through six innings to take the loss against the Braves on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Smith generated a whopping 18 swinging strikes, but he also allowed two home runs to get tagged with his seventh loss. Although it doesn't matter in most fantasy leagues, Smith delivered two doubles at the plate and raised his batting average to .273. The 28-year-old has a 3.82 ERA with 138 strikeouts through 21 starts this season. Smith will make his next start Monday against the Reds at Marlins Park.

Smith (8-6) allowed one earned run on one hit and three walks while striking out four across five innings to earn the win Thursday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
The only hit Smith surrendered was a solo home run off the bat of Kyle Garlick in the fifth inning. He was also a bit shaky in his control of the zone, throwing only 59 strikes on 106 total pitches. All told however, the outing was strong given the matchup against one of the more potent lineups in the league. It was also a bounceback performance from Smith, as he had surrendered four or more earned runs in two of his last three starts. For the season, Smith has a 3.63 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 131 strikeouts across 111.2 innings. He'll look to keep things going in a tough matchup at Atlanta on Wednesday.

Smith (7-6) took the loss Friday as the Marlins were downed 8-4 by Atlanta, coughing up six runs on 10 hits and a walk over 4.2 innings while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw was locked in a pitchers' duel with Julio Teheran until the fifth inning, when a questionable balk call with runners on first and second and nobody out got manager Don Mattingly ejected and caused Smith to lose his focus. He'll carry a 3.71 ERA and 127:36 K:BB through 106.2 innings into his next start Thursday, at home against the Dodgers.

Smith (7-5) allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts while taking a loss against the Rays on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The defense and offense let Smith down Sunday afternoon, as an error led to two unearned runs, and the Marlins scored only two runs in the loss. The defeat ended Smith's four-game winning streak, but his other numbers improved. Smith owns a 3.35 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, .197 batting average against and 123 strikeouts in 102 innings this season. He will look to start a new winning streak Friday at home against the Braves.

EDGE Analysis
Miami's offense staked Smith to a big lead with a six-run second inning, and he made it hold up. The lefty will carry a 3.43 ERA and 119:31 K:BB through 97 innings into his next outing Sunday in Tampa Bay.

Smith (6-4) allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out nine across seven innings to earn the win Thursday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Smith maintained a perfect game across 5.2 innings prior to allowing three consecutive batters to reach base. That didn't spoil his terrific effort, which marked his longest outing since May 1 -- a span of nine starts. Also notable was that Smith didn't surrender a home run, a problem that has plagued him throughout the season as evidenced by a 1.6 HR/9. Despite that, he's managed a strong 3.30 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 90 innings for the campaign. He'll look to keep things going in his next start, currently scheduled for Monday against Arizona.
