Quantrill (5-3) allowed just five hits over seven innings while striking out five in Friday's 7-1 win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
It's the longest outing of the year for Quantrill, and also the third time in his last five starts that he hasn't allowed a run. The right-hander has allowed just five runs (three earned) over his last 29 innings, lowering his ERA from 4.83 to 3.21 in that span. Quantrill takes a 57:18 K:BB ratio over 70 innings into his next start, which is expected to be an interleague contest versus the Rays on Wednesday.

Quantrill (4-3) suffered the loss Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out three over five innings in a 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill was doing fine until a fourth-inning solo shot by Justin Turner, but the right-hander fell apart with a three-run fifth inning that ultimately ended his night. Through 63 innings, Quantrill owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 52:18 K:BB. The 24-year-old is expected to face the Rockies at home Friday in his next start.

Quantrill (4-2) picked up the win Saturday, giving up one run on three hits and four walks over 5.1 innings while striking out four in a 5-1 victory over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander wasn't sharp, throwing 50 of 86 pitches for strikes and firing first-pitch strikes to only 12 of the 23 batters he faced, but Quantrill didn't give up much hard contact and his lack of control didn't come back to hurt him. He'll carry a 3.57 ERA and 49:18 K:BB through 58 innings into his next outing Saturday, on the road against the Dodgers.

Quantrill will work as the starting pitcher Saturday against the Giants, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill served as the bulk reliever during his last outing Sunday, shutting the Cubs down over 5.2 innings of work. He'll be given an opportunity to start this time through the rotation, however.

Quantrill (3-2) allowed two hits over 5.2 shutout innings Sunday, striking out six batters and earning the win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill came into the contest in the third inning and kept the Cubs off the board until Kirby Yates finished things off in the ninth. He's now thrown 11.2 scoreless innings with a 9:1 K:BB over his last two starts, lowering his ERA to a solid 3.76 on the season. It's unclear if he'll make a standard start his next time out or follow an opener, but his next appearance could come at home against the Giants next weekend.

Quantrill will follow opener Adrian Morejon on Sunday against the Cubs, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following an opener will be a minor boost to Quantrill's fantasy value, as he'll avoid the top of the Cubs' lineup the first time through the order and won't have to pitch five innings to be credited with a win. The 24-year-old has been decent in his first taste of big-league action this season, recording a 4.21 ERA in 47 innings of work.

Quantrill did not factor into the decision against Atlanta on Sunday, throwing six scoreless innings and giving up three hits and one walk while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
In his eighth start of the season, Quantrill kept Atlanta's offense at bay, allowing only a trio of singles along with one walk and one hit-batsman. He wasn't particularly overpowering, whiffing only three batters, but nonetheless matched fellow rookie Mike Soroka by keeping runs off the board until he was lifted after his 90th pitch. With the scoreless outing, Quantrill lowered his ERA to 4.21 -- the lowest it has been since his third appearance this season. He'll try to build upon the strong start when he heads to Chicago to face the Cubs on Friday in his next scheduled start.

Quantrill is listed as the scheduled starter for Sunday's game against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
With Matt Strahm moving to the bullpen shortly before the All-Star break and with Eric Lauer (personal) landing on the bereavement list Friday, the Padres will at least temporarily have room in the rotation for Quantrill. Once Lauer is back with the club, Quantrill could be at some risk of shifting to a long-relief role, though the Padres' ongoing efforts to manage Chris Paddack's workload could prompt manager Andy Green to keep Quantrill in the fold as part of a six-man rotation.

Quantrill gave up three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four through 4.1 innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill pitched effectively except for a three-run inning in the third frame. The right-hander was pulled after 72 pitches, but he was not stretched out after making his last four appearances out of the bullpen. Quantrill has a 2-2 record and a 4.83 ERA going into the All-Star break.

Quantrill is listed as the Padres' probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres look set to close out the first half with a different starting pitcher for all seven games this week. After making his last four appearances in relief, Quantrill will slot back into the rotation for a spot start, while Dinelson Lamet (elbow) appears on track to return from the 60-day injured list Friday to start against the Dodgers. In Quantrill's case, he seems less likely to stick around in the rotation than Lamet after the All-Star break, though the Padres could have spots for both if one or both of rookies Logan Allen and Chris Paddack are optioned to Triple-A El Paso. Quantrill will at least make for a decent streaming option this week while matching up with one of the majors' worst offenses in the favorable pitching environment of Petco Park.
