Orioles transferred 2B Brian Roberts from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move opens up a spot for Manny Machado on the 40-man roster. Roberts underwent season-ending surgery a week ago to repair a right labral tear in his hip.

Brian Roberts underwent successful surgery on Thursday to repair a right labral tear in his hip.
He'll have to go through 4-6 months of rehab before he can resume baseball activities. If all goes well, Roberts could be ready in time for the start of spring training next February. But the veteran second baseman also has chronic concussion issues and is prone to setbacks.

Brian Roberts (hip) could be activated from the disabled list Monday.
Roberts has played just one rehab game with Triple-A Norfolk, but evidently the Orioles don't think he needs many at-bats in order to knock the rust off. He's been sidelined since early July with a right labral hip tear.

Brian Roberts (hip) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Saturday for short-season Aberdeen.
Roberts is clearly making progress, but remains with a timetable. He'll likely need most of his 30-day rehab window before being activated from the disabled list.

Brian Roberts will attempt to rehab his right hip injury rather than undergo surgery.
Roberts was diagnosed with a right labral hip tear earlier this month, but he's going to try the rehab route in an effort to keep his season alive. The 34-year-old is doing light toss and swings from both sides in Sarasota and will increase activities as long as he can tolerate the pain. Fantasy owners shouldn't count on anything from him.

Brian Roberts is still weighing whether to undergo surgery on his right hip or try to rehab the injury.
Roberts was diagnosed with a right labral hip tear last week and had a second opinion earlier this week. It's not known if the diagnosis was confirmed, but it seems likely. Surgery would sideline Roberts for two months and, in all likelihood, end his season. Robert Andino will continue to handle second base for the Orioles.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter told reporters in Anaheim on Friday that Brian Roberts recent MRI revealed a tear in his right hip.
Roberts will seek a second opinion before deciding on a course of action. As it stands, it appears that he will be out for another extended period of time, opening the door for Robert Andino to return as the O's regular second baseman.

Orioles placed 2B Brian Roberts on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 2, with a groin strain.
It was pretty easy to see this coming, as Roberts isn't exactly a fast healer. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be sidelined, but it probably won't be a minimum stay on the DL. Robert Andino will handle second base while Roberts is out.

Brian Roberts is not in the Orioles' lineup Monday due to groin soreness.
Roberts first started feeling the groin ailment Sunday. It's not clear at this point how serious the ailment is, but it's hard not to be pessimistic given his history. Robert Andino is taking Roberts' spot at second base and in the leadoff spot.
