Brian McCann left Thursday's game against the Phillies with a right adductor strain. The Braves are calling him day-to-day. Although it doesn't seem to be something to worry about, you can bet the club will play it cautiously with their catcher. McCann probably will play sparingly over the weekend.

Brian McCann is not in the Braves starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs. It's merely a day of rest for the veteran backstop against southpaw Travis Wood. Gerald Laird will get the start behind the dish and hit sixth for the Braves.

"Last year I kept playing and it turned into something worse," McCann said. "It was hard to get in my squat and get my glove where I needed it to be to frame pitches and to block."

McCann hit a three-run home run for the second straight night, this time taking Tyler Chatwood deep in the third inning. The home run was hit 15th, and it gave the catcher 41 RBI on the year. In 64 games, McCann is batting .283/.367/.534.
