Brian McCann got a qualifying offer from the Braves. It's for one year and worth $14.1 million. McCann will decline that offer and try to cash in on the open market this offseason. Word is he has already drawn interest from 10 different teams. The club that ultimately signs him will have to forfeit a top draft pick.

Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors reports that Brian McCann will get a qualifying offer from the Braves. It's a no-brainer decision for the Braves, who will get a compensatory draft pick when McCann declines the $14.1 million offer and signs elsewhere. McCann is though to be seeking a five- or six-year deal worth close to $100 million. And Atlanta seems content to move on.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that as expected, the Braves plan to make a qualifying offer to impending free agent Brian McCann. It's a near certainty that McCann will decline that offer and explore the free agent market, netting the Braves draft pick compensation in return. He's expected to be seeking a five or six-year deal that could approach $100 million.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports expects many large market teams, including the Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, White Sox, Blue Jays, Cubs and Angels, to get involved in the bidding for free agent catcher Brian McCann. There has been speculation that McCann could secure a deal worth upwards of $100 million this offseason, and if baseball's biggest spenders are indeed interested, that looks like a realistic estimate. The 29-year-old backstop is coming off another solid offensive season in which he hit .256/.336/.461 with 20 homers and 57 RBI in just 102 games. He's now eclipsed the 20-homer plateau in each of the last six seasons, and remains one of the top performers at an offensively-challenged position.

Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York was told by one MLB general manager that Brian McCann could receive a deal for six years and $100 million this winter. The GM argued that McCann is a top-five catcher and could transition to first base and DH near the end of the contract. $100 million sounds like a stretch, but as always, it only takes one team to make the possibility a reality. The most likely comp for a deal will be Yadier Molina, who signed a five-year, $75 million extension with the Cardinals in March of 2012. McCann will turn 30 years old next February.

Brian McCann went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Monday's loss to the Dodgers. His Braves' career, which is likely over, ends with a Golden Sombrero. McCann wound up going hitless in 13 at-bats in the series, though he did draw three walks. Jason Heyward (.167/.167/.333) and Justin Upton (.143/.333/.214) also failed to show up for the series.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that the Rangers are expected to target impending free agent Brian McCann this offseason. Knobler says that the Rangers "have repeatedly tried to trade for McCann" and "had scouts following the Braves closely" in order to watch the catcher. With Evan Gattis around, the Braves are not expected to make a serious effort at re-signing McCann, but you can bet that other teams will be in on the bidding.

Brian McCann (groin) could get some at-bats in Sunday's regular season finale, according to Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez. McCann was expected to sit out the weekend, but the injured groin has improved significantly according to Gonzalez. McCann said at the very least he'll be ready to play in the Division Series opener next week. McCann hasn't played since leaving after the first inning of Thursday's game.

Brian McCann (groin) is expected to rest this weekend. McCann left Thursday's game with a right adductor strain and the Braves don't want to take any chances this weekend. It's possible he'll make a pinch-hit appearance, but they might just hold him out until the NLDS.

The Braves think they caught Brian McCann's right groin strain before it became serious. It's possible that they'll hold him out until the NLDS starts, but that's considered a worst-case scenario. McCann tweaked his adductor during Thursday's game and is being called day-to-day.
