Flynn was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Flynn has worked to a 3.04 ERA in the minors as both a starter and a reliever, but he figures to be deployed out of the bullpen with the big league club. The lefty had a brief stint in the majors earlier in the season, allowing four earned runs with a 6:4 K:BB over 7.1 innings. Omar Infante was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot in a corresponding move.

EDGE Analysis

Flynn was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Friday, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old was brought up to reinforce a Royals bullpen that was needed for seven innings in relief of Kris Medlen on Wednesday. A back issue kept Flynn out for nearly all of last year, and he's been just mediocre in 16 innings at Omaha so far this season, allowing seven runs on 15 hits with 14 strikeouts against nine walks. He may ride the shuttle fairly regularly throughout the season.

EDGE Analysis
Omaha is where Flynn spent the entire 2015 campaign after coming over from the Marlins organization in the offseason. He remained in competition for the Royals final bullpen spot up until this week, but he'll return to Triple-A to start the year in hopes of earning a call up at some point.

Flynn has given up eight runs in six innings this spring, but remains in the mix for a final spot in the Kansas City bullpen, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Flynn looks like a long shot, but he does have four strikeouts and no walks in his six spring innings. At least Flynn is showing he's healthy after struggling with a back injury last season.

Flynn (back) was recalled and placed on the 60-day DL on Saturday.
He was already on the minor-league DL with the back injury, but this allows the Royals to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Flynn should be considered out indefinitely.

Flynn was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports.
Flynn was beat out by Ryan Madson for the final spot allocated for relief pitching on the Opening Day roster. He gave up just four earned runs and struck out 14 over 15 innings this spring, but will begin 2015 in the minors in hopes of receiving a call to the bigs when the need arises.

Flynn and fellow pitcher Reid Redman were traded to the Royals on Friday in exchange for Aaron Crow, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
Flynn had appeared in just six big league games during career, but he does own a respectable 3.49 ERA over 92 minor league starts. He should get a chance to compete for the fifth starter's job during spring training unless the Royals sign someone to fill the spot during the offseason.

Flynn was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
The Marlins were forced to turn to Flynn on Thursday with Jarred Cosart (oblique) unable to go, and Flynn gave up five runs on eight hits in just four innings to take the loss to Pittsburgh. He'll head back down Friday, suggesting Cosart may not miss another turn, though the team has yet to confirm.

Flynn made his first start of the season at Pittsburgh on Thursday, and did not produce, surrendering five runs and eight hits in just four innings.
Flynn made four starts with the big club last year, and really struggled, so he's not off to a good start this time around. It's unclear if he'll make another spot start or not, as the status of Jarred Cosart (oblique) has yet to be determined.
