Brett Cecil allowed just two runs (one earned) on seven hits in 7 2/3 innings on Friday, but got stuck with a loss in Toronto's 2-0 setback against the Orioles.
He struck out a season-high nine while walking only one. The quality start was his first in four outings. Now the owner of a 4.37 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, Cecil will get the Yankees at home next Friday. Keep him benched.

Brett Cecil had a lousy day at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits in six innings of a Blue Jays loss.
His biggest mistake came in the third inning, where he served up a three-run bomb to Derek Jeter. Cecil's third straight non-quality outing leaves him with a 4.60 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through 109 2/3 innings. He'll get the Orioles at home on Friday.

Brett Cecil couldn't solve the Royals Thursday, surrendering five runs on nine hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings of work.
He struck out three and served up a solo homer to Melky Cabrera. It's a disappointing performance from the left-hander, as Cecil had been turning his season around of late, posting a quality start in seven of his previous nine outings. He'll carry a 4.42 ERA and 1.28 WHIP into next week's start in Baltimore.

Brett Cecil allowed four runs on five hits in seven innings of work on Sunday, taking a no-decision in Toronto's 5-4, 10-inning win over the Angels.
Cecil struck out three and walked none in completing at least seven innings of work for the fifth time in six starts. Now the owner of a 4.38 ERA and 1.26 WHIP through his first 84 1/3 innings, he should get the A's in Oakland his next time out.

Brett Cecil was quality in a loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on just four hits and two walk over seven innings against the Athletics.
Cecil pitched well again, but he was undone by a pair of home run balls and was outdueled by Rich Harden. The lefty has really picked up his game of late, though, producing a 2.70 ERA over his last seven outings to lower his mark on the year to 4.31 to go along with a 1.31 WHIP. He's a worthy mixed league play at this point and will get the Angels next.

Brett Cecil pitched seven innings of one-run ball to beat the Rangers on Friday.
So, Cecil has pitched 16 innings and allowed just one run against the Rangers over the last five days. Maybe the Red Sox or Yankees should pick him up in anticipation of facing Texas in the postseason. Cecil looks like a decent play in AL-only leagues with the Rays up next.

Brett Cecil pitched his first career shutout Sunday against the Rangers.
Cecil has pitched well in three of his five starts back from the minors, and it looks like he'll be sticking in the rotation for a bit. He'll get the Rangers again next time out, and he makes for a risky pick trying to shut down a potent offense twice in a row. Still, he's not a bad play in AL-only leagues at the moment.

He gave up nine hits and a walk while striking out two. A pair of homers accounted for four of the runs. Cecil entered the contest having tossed consecutive quality starts but he struggled against a lifeless Seattle offense. He's turned in a disappointing 5.77 ERA and 1.55 WHIP to this point.

Brett Cecil held the Indians to one unearned run in six innings of work on Sunday, improving to 2-4 in Toronto's 7-1 victory.
He struck out six while walking three. The quality start was Cecil's second straight after he turned in zero in his first five outings this season. Still less than a year removed from a very solid campaign, Cecil could prove to be an interesting second-half flier.

Brett Cecil's return to the Blue Jays' rotation didn't go well, as he gave up six runs on eight hits and three walks over 6 1/3 frames Thursday in a loss to the Pirates.
Cecil was humming along pretty well until the sixth, when he served up an RBI double to Ronny Cedeno and a two-run longball to Brandon Wood. He did strike out three, and his velocity was fine, so the outing wasn't a total dud. Cecil will look to win his first game since April when he takes the mound next week against the Red Sox.
