McCarthy (elbow) could be ready for a minor league rehab assignment in 10-to-14 days, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This would seemingly put McCarthy in position to return to the team's starting rotation around the mid-to-late June timeframe, so he's right on schedule. That's assuming of course that the right-hander does not suffer any setbacks.

McCarthy (elbow) is set to throw a bullpen session Saturday, J.P Hoonstra of the Southern California News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy has yet to progress beyond throwing bullpens to this point as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Saturday will mark his second bullpen session of the week, but there's still no word on when he'll progress to throwing live batting practice. Mid-to-late June appears to be the likeliest return time frame for the veteran right-hander.

McCarthy (elbow) threw a bullpen session for club officials Tuesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He's been throwing bullpen sessions for three months or so now, slowly rebuilding strength in his surgically repaired elbow. It seems club officials wanted to get an idea of where exactly McCarthy stands before plotting out the next steps in his rehab. A June return has been the team's target for McCarthy since before the start of spring training.

McCarthy (elbow) threw off a mound briefly on Wednesday for the first time since his surgery, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
EDGE Analysis
It is good to see him finally get back on the mound for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in late April 2015. However, the Dodgers don't expect to have him back until late June or early July. In fact, they might have the pitching depth to allow him to knock the rust off at Triple-A for a longer stretch than would typically be the case. Either way, McCarthy should be treated as a stash candidate in leagues with multiple DL spots, and he should be placed on watch lists in other formats.

McCarthy was moved to the 60-day DL on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy remains on a long-term recovery timeline, with the team hoping to have him back from Tommy John surgery sometime in late-June or early-July. As such, he'll be removed from the 40-man roster for now to make room for the recently signed Louis Coleman.

McCarthy (elbow) has thrown off the mound 4-5 times, as of late January, and said he is targeting a late-June return for the Dodgers, the Orange County Register's Bill Plunkett reports.
EDGE Analysis
He specifically said he is targeting a return on the summer solstice (June 21), which would allow him to make two starts for the Dodgers before the All-Star break. Given the Dodgers' relatively unprecedented rotation depth, they could be clicking on all five rotation spots when McCarthy is ready to return. However, Kenta Maeda, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Brett Anderson can safely be described as health risks, so the a spot should open up for McCarthy, one way or another. He doesn't offer the upside to make him worth stashing in standard leagues, but he's definitely worth following once he starts going on rehab outings this spring.

McCarthy (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Thursday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
The Dodgers moved McCarthy to the 60-day DL to free up a 40-man roster spot for lefty Eury De La Rosa, who was claimed off waivers from the A's. McCarthy underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday morning and is said to be targeting a return before the 2016 All-Star break.

McCarthy (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery Thursday, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.
This was an inevitability after tests revealed earlier in the week that McCarthy tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. The 31-year-old faces a lengthy recovery, but he said he hopes to return before next year's All-Star break.

McCarthy (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.
The Dodgers wasted little time making the roster move after it was revealed hours earlier that McCarthy is suffering from a torn UCL and will likely require season-ending Tommy John surgery. Adam Liberatore was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move to give the Dodgers an extra arm in the bullpen, which could mean that current long man Carlos Frias moves to the rotation in place of McCarthy.

McCarthy (elbow) has been diagnosed with a torn UCL and will miss the remainder of the season, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Dodgers seemed optimistic that McCarthy was only dealing with tendinitis in his elbow after initial tests didn't reveal any structural damage, but a follow-up MRI revealed a worst-case scenario for the right-hander. McCarthy, who signed a four-year, $48 million deal with the Dodgers in the winter, will have to undergo his first career Tommy John operation, but it's yet another long-term injury setback in a career that's been full of them. He had appeared primed to take a step forward after a dominant 29:4 K:BB ratio over his first 23 innings this season that belied his 5.87 ERA, but it's now likely we won't see him pitch again until next summer. With McCarthy out of commission, Scott Baker now appears in line to enjoy a more permanent spot in the Dodgers' rotation.
