Brad Hand wasn't able to solve the Phillies Friday, giving up four runs - three earned - on four hits and three walks over five innings of work. Hand was pitching pretty well through the first four frames, but John Mayberry ripped a two-run shot off of him in the fifth and another run scored in the sixth that was charged to him. The young left-hander was making a spot start and will likely now move into a bullpen role, though he could get a few more chances before the end of the year.

Marlins optioned LHP Brad Hand to Double-A Jacksonville. Hand had been solid for the Fish up until his last outing, when he was blasted by the Braves for seven runs. He'll take a 4.08 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 24/25 K/BB ratio through 39 2/3 innings back to the minors but could be back up at some point.

Brad Hand got roughed up by the Braves on Monday, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks in five innings of a Marlins loss. Hand finally broke this evening after doing a lot of bending in his first seven starts. The owner of a 4.08 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 24/25 K/BB ratio through 39 2/3 innings of work, he's a poor option in NL-only leagues.

Brad Hand gave up two runs over five innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Mets. Hand gave up a career-high seven hits (including a home run to Jose Reyes) while walking one and striking out four. The rookie left-hander now has a 2.86 ERA through his first seven major league starts, despite an underwhelming 21/22 K/BB ratio over 34 2/3 innings. We expect his ERA to continue to rise in future starts.

Brad Hand walked six Thursday while allowing one run in 3 2/3 innings Thursday against the Nationals. Hand, who was called up last night to replace Chris Volstad in the rotation, has a 2.73 ERA in six starts for the Marlins this season, but he's lasted longer than five innings in just two of his outings. His K/BB ratio stands at 17/21 in 29 2/3 innings. There is some promise here, but he's a shaky play in NL-only leagues.

Marlins recalled LHP Brad Hand from Triple-A New Orleans. Hand will get the ball Thursday against the Nationals. The young left-hander has certainly held his own in previous chances with the Marlins, boasting a 2.77 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over five starts. He could stick around for a while if he pitches well.

Brad Hand picked up his first MLB win Thursday, holding the Astros scoreless on just two hits and three walks over seven inning in the 5-0 win. Manager Jack McKeon sent Hand out for the eighth to throw one pitch so that the home crowd (however sparse it was) could give the rookie a standing ovation as he left the field. It was quite a performance even against the feeble Astros, and Hand now has a 2.77 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over five starts. He has surely earned himself at least a handful more chances before Josh Johnson returns from the DL.

Brad Hand will start Thursday against the Astros. Hand wasn't impressive in his start Saturday against the Rangers, allowing a pair of solo homers and walking three over 3 1/3 innings, but he'll get the ball again, anyway. He doesn't come recommended in fantasy leagues.

Marlins recalled LHP Brad Hand from Double-A Jacksonville. As expected, Hand will return from the minors to start Saturday's game against the Rangers. The 21-year-old left-hander had a 3.45 ERA and 10/9 K/BB ratio over three starts with the Marlins last month. He could be a backend-type starter in the majors someday, but we wouldn't depend on him as a fantasy option right now.
