Bobby Parnell (neck) threw a successful bullpen session on Monday morning in Mets camp.
It was only 15 pitches and the catcher was in front of the plate, but Parnell made it through without any issues and continues to make steady progress in his recovery from neck surgery. The Mets are optimistic that their 29-year-old closer will be ready for Opening Day.

Marc Carig of Long Island Newsday reports that Bobby Parnell (neck) will throw another bullpen session on Monday.
It's expected to be another light session in which he only throws around 10 pitches, but is still a big step in the right direction for the Mets closer. He's expected to be healthy and ready to go for the start of the regular season, but the Mets have inked Kyle Farnsworth and Jose Valverde as insurance options.

Mets manager Terry Collins said that Bobby Parnell (neck) felt "great" during his first bullpen session on Friday.
It's the first time Parnell has been on the bump since undergoing surgery last September to repair a herniated disk in his neck. The Mets have been cautious about predicting a timetable for their closer, but things are looking good so far for him being ready to handle the ninth inning come Opening Day.

Mike Puma of the New York Post was told by a Mets source that Bobby Parnell (neck) has looked "great" while throwing at the club's spring training complex.
Making his way back from surgery in September to repair a herniated disk in his neck, Parnell was cleared to resume baseball activities two weeks ago. The Mets might take things a little slowly with him in spring training, but, barring any setbacks, the close should be ready for Opening Day.

In a conference call on Friday, Bobby Parnell clarified that he feels he's still the Mets closer.
"In my head I feel like I'm still the closer. I'm going to go along with that until told otherwise" stated Parnell. He added that he's working hard this offseason to come back from his neck surgery, and fully believes he will be ready to help the Mets from day one. He's currently going off fantasy draft boards as one of the last closers selected, and makes for an interesting option for those pushing the position to the later rounds.

Mets avoided arbitration with RHP Bobby Parnell by agreeing to a one-year, $3.7 million contract.
He'll have a chance to earn an additional $50,000 if he appears in 60 games. Parnell, who was arbitration-eligible for the second time, was recently cleared to resume baseball activities as he works his way back from neck surgery. He saved 22 games for the Mets last season.

Bobby Parnell (neck) was cleared this week by Dr. Robert Watkins to resume all baseball-related activities.
It's excellent news for the 29-year-old closer, who underwent surgery in September to repair a herniated disk in his neck. Parnell should be on the same page as the rest of the Mets' pitchers this spring in camp and looks to be a safe fantasy bet on draft day. He posted a 2.16 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 44/12 K/BB ratio in 50 innings last season.

Mets GM Sandy Alderson is "fairly confident" that Bobby Parnell (neck) will be fully healthy for spring training.
Parnell had surgery in September to repair a herniated disk in his neck. "He's regained the weight," Alderson said. "He's about to start throwing again. And we don't anticipate any problems. But that's one of the reasons we're going to have him come back up to New York -- to be seen not necessarily for a surgical follow-up, but just an overall review. But right now we don't have any reason to believe he won't be ready." The Mets are hoping that their closer will be a go for spring training, but Alderson added that New York would like to add another late-innings reliever.

Bobby Parnell (neck) is still weeks away from being cleared for baseball activities.
Parnell had surgery in September to repair a herniated disk in his neck. He had a checkup last week, which went well, but he'll have to wait a bit longer before getting into his offseason workout routine. The Mets are hoping that their closer will be ready for spring training.

Mets activated RHP Bobby Parnell from the 60-day disabled list.
Parnell underwent surgery in September for a herniated disk and there is some concern about his readiness for the 2014 season. If he's healthy, he'll be the closer.
