Dodgers signed OF Bobby Abreu to a one-year contract. We assume it's probably a prorated veteran minimum deal, with the Angels being responsible for the remainder of his $9 million salary this season. Abreu will serve as an occasional left fielder and pinch-hitter for the Dodgers, and he's worthy of scooping up in NL-only leagues.

Jon Heyman on CBSSports.com reports that the Dodgers have agreed to terms with Bobby Abreu. A deal was reportedly close Wednesday evening, and now it appears it's finally done. As Heyman notes, Abreu will be a "bat off the bench and part-time outfielder" for the first-place Dodgers. It will be hard for him to churn out much fantasy value in that role, but he's worthy of scooping up in NL-only leagues.

Updating an earlier item, Jon Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Dodgers are nearing a deal with Bobby Abreu. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported earlier that talks were heating up, and evidently the two sides are close to crossing the finish line. Abreu will serve as a pinch-hitter and occasional outfielder for the Dodgers, and he won't have to move far after being released by the Angels last week.

Jon Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Bobby Abreu is drawing interest from some National League teams. Many thought he might be limited to DH jobs, but evidently some are willing to consider him for an outfield role. Abreu was batting just .208 over his first 24 at-bats this season before the Angels cut him loose and isn't close to the same player he once was. But, he can still get on base and run a little, so he wouldn't be a bad addition for someone.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Angels could release Bobby Abreu and ''swallow his contract.'' Manager Mike Scioscia told Abreu he would get 400 plate appearances this season, but with Kendrys Morales returning and Mark Trumbo available to DH, there is little need for him on the Opening Day roster. Utility players Jorge Cantu and Alexi Amarista could push Abreu in a battle for two bench spots.

Bobby Abreu went 2-for-3 a run scored and two RBI in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks. The two-hit day was Abreu's first in Cactus League play after he entered the day hitting an appalling .087/.160/.130. His .087 average had been 200th out of 200 qualifying players for the "spring batting title." No longer on his way to Cleveland, Abreu will be forced to scrap for at-bats in Los Angeles' overfilled outfield to begin the season.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the proposed trade that would send Bobby Abreu to the Indians has fallen apart.

Bobby Abreu is in the Angels' lineup Friday. As Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times points out, it either means the rumored trade to the Indians is "dead or on hold." Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported Thursday evening that the deal was "on the verge" of being finalized, but talks evidently hit a snag, and FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal thinks the trade is only "50-50" to happen.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that a trade sending Bobby Abreu to the Indians is only "50-50" to happen. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported earlier that the deal was "on the verge" of being finalized. But it has apparently hit a snag. Abreu, 38, will serve as the Indians' primary left fielder this season if the trade is ultimately completed. He batted .253/.353/.365 with eight home runs and 60 RBI in 585 plate appearances last year for Anaheim.
