Bartolo Colon was off in Sunday's loss to the White Sox, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out two in falling to 9-9. Today was just the second time in his past eight starts Colon failed to complete six innings of work. He had allowed only one run across his past 20 2/3 innings coming into this afternoon. He'll bring a 3.55 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 88/23 K/BB ratio into his Saturday tilt with the Indians in Oakland.

Bartolo Colon will start Sunday against the White Sox. Jarrod Parker was originally scheduled to start Sunday, but the Athletics are pushing him back a day in order to give him some extra rest. Colon is currently working on a career-best streak of 20 2/3 scoreless innings.

Bartolo Colon pitched brilliantly in Tuesday's win over the Angels, scattering four hits and allowing one run -- none earned -- over seven innings. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter. Colon is the zombie that won't die, or the cat on its ninth life; pick your metaphor. Now producing his second is-this-really-happening resurgent season, Colon won his third straight start Tuesday and is on a streak of 20 2/3 innings having not allowed an earned run. His ERA is down to 3.38, the lowest it's been since early May. He shouldn't be on the bench in any format.

Bartolo Colon allowed four runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings Sunday, taking a no-decision in Oakland's 5-4, 12-inning win over the Yankees. Colon struck out five, walked one and served up a solo home run to Curtis Granderson. The non-quality outing was his second straight, though he's now recorded at least 20 outs in each of his past three starts. The owner of a 3.97 ERA through 118 innings, Colon will bring a 1.25 WHIP and 73/19 K/BB ratio into his weekend start in Baltimore.

Bartolo Colon coughed up four runs to the Rangers on eight hits in seven innings Tuesday, taking the loss in his third start back from the disabled list. Colon struck out five and walked one. He's had some rough outings along the way, but Colon has been more than worth his $2 million salary for the A's, turning in a 3.88 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 68/18 K/BB ratio through 111 1/3 innings. Provided he can remain healthy, he should be worth holding onto in the second half. His fantasy value may even increase if he's traded to a contender.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com was told by a source that it's "highly unlikely" the Athletics will trade Bartolo Colon. The source says the A's consider Colon more valuable to them than the one or two mid-level prospects he could fetch from another team. It's also possible the A's may try to bring him back next season. Colon, 39, has a 3.80 ERA and a 63/17 K/BB ratio in 104 1/3 innings across 17 starts this year.

Bartolo Colon pitched well in his return from the disabled list, allowing two runs -- one earned -- on five hits and a walk Tuesday against the Red Sox. He struck out three. Colon had been sidelined since June 17 with a strained oblique. Oakland's feeble offense came through with a comeback in the ninth inning to take Colon off the hook for a loss. The veteran right-hander owns a 4.05 ERA over his first 16 starts for the A's.
