Andy Pettitte left Wednesday's start against the Indians in the fifth inning after being hit in the lower left leg with a comebacker off the bat of Casey Kotchman.
On the day CC Sabathia was placed on the disabled list, the Yankees' rotation was dealt another blow on the injury front. Pettitte attempted to stay in at first, but was pulled from the game after throwing a warm-up pitch. He allowed three hits and one walk while striking out seven over four-plus innings before being replaced by Cody Eppley.

Andy Pettitte gave up five runs over six innings in Friday's loss to the Mets.
Pettitte was touched up for all five runs in the first inning, the big blow of which was a three-run homer by Ike Davis. However, he settled down from there and kept the Yankees within striking distance. All told, the 40-year-old southpaw gave up seven hits while striking out seven and walking a pair. He has logged at least six innings in all eight of his starts and now owns a 3.29 ERA and 52/14 K/BB ratio over 54 2/3 innings. He'll get the Indians next week.

Andy Pettitte yielded two runs over seven innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Nationals.
Pettitte scattered five hits and walked three while striking out six. The 40-year-old southpaw was denied the win after Cory Wade coughed up the lead in the eighth inning, but his comeback continues to exceed even the most optimistic expectations. He owns a 2.77 ERA through seven starts and has an outstanding 46/12 K/BB ratio in 48 2/3 innings.

Andy Pettitte allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits in six innings of work Sunday, taking a no-decision in the Yankees' 5-4 win over the Mets.
Pettitte struck out eight and walked two in his fourth quality start in five outings. He's also notched at least eight strikeouts four of the past five times he's taken the hill. The Yankees' soon-to-be 40-year-old comeback kid will bring a 2.81 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 40/9 K/BB ratio into his start in Washington next weekend.

Andy Pettitte had his worst start since returning to the big leagues on Tuesday, allowing five runs on nine hits over seven innings of New York's loss to the Angels.
He struck out three and didn't walk a batter. Pettitte has gone at least 6 1/3 innings in all four of his starts and owns a 3.49 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 22/5 K/BB ratio through 28 1/3 innings. The 39-year-old southpaw should be started in almost every mixed fantasy leagues.

Andy Pettitte tossed eight shutout innings Friday for his first win since 2010.
Pettitte struck out nine and walked one as the Yankees topped the Reds 4-0. All of the Reds' four hits were singles, and Pettitte was surprisingly effective, throwing 76 of his 115 pitches for strikes. While he's not quite a must-start option, the 39-year-old southpaw should be relevant in most mixed fantasy leagues. His next start comes Wednesday against the Royals.

Andy Pettitte had a mixed return to the big leagues on Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings of New York's loss to the Mariners.
Pettitte breezed through his first three innings of work, allowing no hits. He walked Ichiro Suzuki with two outs in the fourth, however, before serving up a two-run bomb to Justin Smoak. He required 94 pitches to notch his 19 outs. Pettitte's velocity appeared fine this afternoon, and after a few starts to regain his big-league bearings, he could easily turn into a mixed-league must-own.

Yankees purchased the contract of LHP Andy Pettitte from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre.
He'll make his first major league start Sunday since 2010. Pettitte's results during his minor league outings were hit or miss, but he's feeling healthy and is expected to be allowed to approach 100 pitches against the Mariners. We'd take a wait-and-see approach for now, but it's certainly possible that he'll have mixed league relevance again.

Andy Pettitte will be called up to start for the Yankees on Sunday against the Mariners.
Pettitte has struggled in his last two minor league tuneups, so there was some question about whether he needed more time, but the Yankees apparently think he's ready to join the starting rotation. We wouldn't get carried away in shallow mixed formats, but the 39-year-old southpaw should be owned in deeper formats and AL-only leagues, especially with the tasty first matchup.
