Andy Pettitte will make his next minor league start Monday with Double-A Trenton. Pettitte is slated to stretch it out to 90-95 pitches after throwing 84 pitches with Double-A Trenton on Wednesday. The veteran southpaw has a 3.00 ERA and an 8/1 K/BB ratio in 12 innings over his first three minor league tuneups and should be ready to join the Yankees' rotation around May 10.

Andy Pettitte wasn't great in a rehab start with Double-A Wednesday, giving up four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three in the outing, and the final run charged to him scored after he departed. It's not a great outing, but overall the Yankees have been very pleased with how Pettitte has looked and felt during his rehab outings. He's expected to make two more rehab starts before joining the Yanks rotation around May 10.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi confirmed Andy Pettitte remains on track with his early-May timetable. "It's getting close to a reality now,'' Girardi said. "I think it's realistic to look at three more minor-league starts and then you make a real evaluation of where he's at and what he needs.'' Pettitte, 39, is scheduled to pitch in Double-A Wednesday and throw as many as 85 pitches, with the expectation of having him make one start of between 95-100 pitches before being reactivated. Freddy Garcia and Phil Hughes are officially on notice.

Andy Pettitte will make his next minor league appearance with Double-A Trenton as they take on the Erie Seawolves on Wednesday. So far, so good in his comeback effort. As long as everything keeps going according to plan, Pettitte could return to the Yankees rotation within the first few weeks of May.

Andy Pettitte threw four shutout innings Sunday for High-A Tampa. He allowed two hits and no walks while striking out three in his second minor league appearance. "Obviously, you know at this stage for me, any setback would cost you a month, maybe, or so. I'm just happy that I'm progressing the way I am," Pettitte said. "I don't want to start talking too much about how great I feel or whatever. I just want to get back up there, get ready and get back up there with the guys and start going to battle with them." Pettitte's next start will be Friday, though he hasn't yet been informed which minor league affiliate he'll make it for. He should be ready to join the Yankees rotation by early May.

Andy Pettitte allowed one run on two hits while striking out two over three innings Monday in an outing for High-A Tampa. He threw 26 of 32 pitches for strikes, sitting in the 85-87 mph range and reportedly showing a nice changeup. Pettitte will obviously need to continue to build up his stamina over a few more outings, but so far, so good. He should be ready to join the Yankees rotation by early May.

Andy Pettitte is scheduled to throw two innings Monday in a Florida State League game. Pettitte tossed a scoreless inning Wednesday afternoon in an exhibition with the Mets. The veteran left-hander should be stretched out enough to join the Yankees' rotation by the first week of May and might be worth taking a flier on right now in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
