Miller (knee) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Indians have yet to determine which affiliate Miller will report to for the assignment, but it's expected that he'll only need one appearance before being activated ahead of the weekend series with the Royals. Miller was able to complete his second bullpen session Sunday without issue, and assuming he incurs no setbacks during the rehab outing, he should immediately step back into his usual role as the Indians' top stopper out of the bullpen.

Miller (knee) completed a bullpen session Sunday, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's the second time Miller has taken the mound since landing on the disabled list, after having previously completed a bullpen session Friday. Miller could throw batting practice or pitch a simulated game during the upcoming days, but it remains to be seen if he'll require a rehab assignment after that or if the Indians will feel comfortable enough activating him the DL at that time.

Miller (knee) was able to partake in a bullpen session prior to Friday's game against the Rays, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The reliever was able to throw 20-25 pitches during his first time back on a mound since landing on the disabled list with tendinitis on Aug. 2. There is still not a definitive timetable for Miller, but it appears likely that he will need more time than the minimum 10 days while recovering. At this point, the left-hander could return by the middle of next week, but manager Terry Francona should be able to shed a little clarity on the situation following his bullpen session.

Manager Terry Francona said Miller may need a few days beyond his 10-day DL stint to recover from right knee tendinitis, The Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander is eligible to be activated on August 12 when the team is in Tampa for a weekend series. Monday the Tribe heads to Boston for a makeup game before moving onto Minnesota for a three-game set starting August 15. Miller's knee is probably better off just rehabbing for a few extra days before rejoining the Tribe for the Twins series. Pushing the setup man's activation date back appears to be based more on maintenance than any sort of setback.

An MRI on Miller's knee confirmed he is dealing with tendinitis, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a huge relief, as the test results seem to confirm Miller isn't dealing with a more serious injury. The hope is that he'll be ready to go after some rest, though the Indians have yet to put a timetable on his return.

Miller will have an MRI on his injury right knee Thursday in Cleveland, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The dominant left-hander said the knee had been bothering him for weeks, and it's impacted his mechanics. "I've felt like it explains some lack of crispness," Miller said. "I think that we're in a place right now where it seems like as soon as I pitch again, I go through something that sets it off again, and we get back to square one. So the idea is, with a little bit of time, we can get ahead of it and get it out and it won't come back." Manager Terry Francona mentioned that placing Miller on the 10-day DL wasn't the only option, suggesting the move was more preventative than necessary. Thursday's MRI will clear the fog, and likely give owners a recovery timeline.

Miller (knee) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with right knee tendinitis, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miller was charged with a blown save after giving up a run in Tuesday's game against the Red Sox and was examined by the Indians' head athletic trainer after the appearance, prompting the relief ace's first DL trip of the season. The lefty hasn't looked especially sharp lately, hitting an opposing batter and walking one during both of his last two outings. During Miller's absence, Cody Allen should be in line to receive all of the save opportunities, while Bryan Shaw, the newly acquired Joe Smith and Nick Goody take on heightened roles in the seventh and eighth innings.

Miller (4-3) struck out three batters over 1.2 scoreless innings during Saturday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Despite being limited to setup duty, pitching in high-leverage situations will continue to provide Miller with the opportunity to collect the odd win and save. His elite ratios -- 1.52 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 13.0 K/9 -- are a perfect fantasy pair with his role, and the lefty projects to remain a go-to asset.

Miller allowed a solo home run during the eighth inning of Saturday's win over Toronto. He was charged with his first blown save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
It was a rare blip on the radar for Miller, as he's allowed just three runs through 14.1 innings over his past 12 appearances. With a 1.69 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 13.1 K/9 for the campaign, Miller remains a valuable fantasy asset. However, despite pitching consistently in high-leverage situations, he's not a lock to provide much help in the wins or saves columns.

Miller struck out two over two scoreless innings Saturday in Minnesota to earn his 18th hold of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Clinging to a 1-0 lead in the seventh inning, manager Terry Francona called on Miller to pitch more than a frame for the 14th time this season. The big left-hander was said to be getting more save opportunities before hitting the break, but Saturday was a perfect example of Miller's usefulness before the ninth inning. Although he'll certainly be in the mix for some saves as the season progresses, it's clear Miller is more valuable in his current role, thus leaving Cody Allen to handle the ninth.
