Heaney allowed four runs on five hits and three walks over five innings in Friday's loss to the Dodgers. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Most of the damage against Heaney came during the Dodgers' three-run third inning. He's given up at least four runs in three of his last five outings but combined for 10.1 shutout frames in the other two during that span. His season ERA rose to 4.58 with a 100:40 K:BB through 96.1 frames. Heaney's next outing is lined up to be in Houston next week.

Heaney (6-6) earned the win Saturday, allowing six hits and one walk over 5.1 scoreless innings against Cleveland. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney was able to keep the Guardians at bay for 5.1 innings despite allowing six hits, doing most of the damage with his four-seamer. It was the lefty's fourth time this season in which he did not allow a run over five or more innings of work. It was also a nice rebound start after allowing eight runs (seven earned) in his previous outing before the All-Star break. On the downside, Heaney still has not made it through six innings in a start since May 21 against the Rockies.

Heaney (5-6) took the loss Saturday as the Rangers fell 8-3 to the Nationals, coughing up eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over three innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw had been away from the team for a few days this week while on paternity leave, and his focus may have been elsewhere in his return to the mound -- the Nats jumped on Heaney for four runs in the first inning alone, with Jeimer Candelario and Joey Meneses both taking him deep before he could escape the frame. Heaney's inability to keep the ball in the park is nothing new, though. He's served up eight homers in 31 innings since the beginning of June, leading to a 6.39 ERA over that stretch, and he has a 1.78 HR/9 on the year.

The Rangers reinstated Heaney from the paternity list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
After spending three days away from the team to be with his growing family, Heaney returns to the Rangers one day before his scheduled start against Washington. The 32-year-old lefty has allowed eight runs on 14 hits and four walks while striking out 19 batters over 16.1 innings across his last three starts. John King was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

Heaney was placed on the paternity leave list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney will be away from the club for its series in Boston but is poised to rejoin the rotation Friday against the Nationals. John King is taking his roster spot.

Heaney allowed three hits and a walk while striking out eight over five scoreless innings, taking a no-decision in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney did his part to start the game, but the Rangers' bullpen was shaky over the final four frames. The veteran southpaw pitched to a 5.87 ERA over five starts in June following a strong end to May, so it was an encouraging first outing in July. Heaney has a 4.12 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 89:35 K:BB through 83 innings across 16 starts this season. He's projected to face the Nationals on the road in his next start.

Heaney (5-5) took the loss against Detroit on Monday, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Of the six runs Heaney allowed, three came on a home run by Andy Ibanez and two on a long ball by Jake Rogers. It was the second straight game in which Heaney gave up multiple homers after allowing just three over his prior seven starts combined. The southpaw hasn't completed six frames in any of his last five appearances following a stretch of four straight quality starts between May 9 and May 27. Heaney's poor outing pushed his season ERA to 4.38, which is right in line with his 4.54 career mark. The career-best 3.10 ERA he posted last season with the Dodgers is looking like an outlier rather than a turning point.

Heaney (5-4) yielded two runs on five hits over 5.2 innings Monday, striking out six and earning a win against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney worked five shutout innings before serving up back-to-back solo homers to Andrew Vaughn and Luis Robert in the sixth. Heaney had allowed just two homers over his previous six starts but still managed to pick up his first victory since May 27. He's given up three or fewer earned runs in eight straight appearances, dropping his season ERA from 5.52 to 3.98 in the process. Heaney will carry a 76:31 K:BB into his next start, which is currently projected to be a road matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

Heaney did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing a run on five hits and four walks over 3.2 innings against the Angels. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney's final line certainly could've been uglier, as he managed to hold the Angels to just one run despite needing 95 pitches to get through 3.2 innings. Heaney's been scuffling a bit of late, with a 5.40 ERA over his last three outings. Overall, the left-hander is 4-4 with a 4.05 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 70:31 K:BB through 13 starts (66.2 innings) this season. Heaney currently lines up to face the White Sox on the road in his next outing.

Heaney (4-4) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks over five innings in a 8-3 loss against the Rays. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney completed at least five innings for the ninth time this season but suffered his fourth loss, as the Rangers couldn't keep pace with Tampa Bay's offense. The left-hander's 4.14 ERA is marred by a pair of horrendous outings, so if you take those out of the equation, Heaney has a 2.59 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 58:21 K:BB across his other 10 starts (55.2 innings). It's been mixed results to start his first season with Texas, but the veteran Heaney will look to get back on track during his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled during a four-game set versus the Angels.
