Heaney (0-5) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over 3.2 innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney yielded one unearned run through three innings before serving up a two-run shot to Zach Neto in the fourth. Heaney needed 83 pitches to record just 11 outs, tying his shortest outing of 2024. He's completed at least six innings in three of his nine starts and is still searching for his first win over the year. Heaney will carry a 4.43 ERA into his next matchup, which is lined up to be in Philadelphia next week.

Heaney allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out eight without walking a batter over five-plus innings, taking a no-decision Saturday versus the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney gave up a solo home run to Hunter Goodman in the third inning, and a second run was tacked onto his line when Jose Leclerc balked in a run in the sixth. This was another solid start for Heaney -- the eight strikeouts were a season high, and he issued zero walks for the fourth start in a row. He's at a 4.39 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 39:9 K:BB through 41 innings across eight starts this season, but he remains in search of his first win. Heaney is projected to make his next start at home in a favorable matchup with the Angels.

Heaney allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney notched his second straight quality start, but a strong outing by opposing starter Alex Wood kept him from picking up his first win of the season. Nonetheless, Heaney was impressive in the start, inducing 15 swinging strikes and finishing without issuing a free pass for his third consecutive appearance. The left-hander failed to get through five frames in each of his first three starts of the season but has now done so in each of his subsequent four outings, and he's gone at least six frames in three straight trips to the mound. Heaney's ERA still sits at a mediocre 4.50, but he has a solid 1.11 WHIP along with a 31:9 K:BB through 36 innings.

Heaney (0-4) took the loss against the Nationals on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits while striking out four over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney looked sharp over his seven innings of work, with the exception of the second inning when he allowed back-to-back hits with one out, which led to Washington's lone run coming home. The lefty would allow only two singles from that point on before being tagged with his fourth loss of the season. It's been a tough go for Heaney to begin the campaign as the Rangers have now lost all six games that he's started, despite him allowing three or fewer runs in four of those outings. On a positive note, he's posted an 11:0 K:BB over his last two starts, going six or more innings in each of those games.

Heaney (0-3) took the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on five hits and no walks over six innings against the Mariners. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Although Heaney only gave up five hits, three went for extra bases, including two-run home runs to Luis Urias and Ty France. Heaney's now surrendered multiple long balls in back-to-back starts. While Thursday's start marked Heaney's first time pitching into the sixth, he's allowed multiple runs in all but one outing this year. He's tentatively scheduled for a matchup with the Nationals on Wednesday.

Heaney allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings during Friday's 8-3 loss to Atlanta. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Two home runs off the bat of Travis d'Arnaud helped Atlanta build a 3-1 lead headed into the sixth inning, but the Rangers managed to tie the game before Heaney was relieved in the bottom of the frame, ensuring he wouldn't get hit with his third loss of the season. While the 32-year-old lefty may have avoided dropping to 0-3, he still owns a 6.35 ERA through his first four starts and could be at risk of losing his spot in the rotation once Cody Bradford (back) returns from the injured list.

Heaney escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 9-2 loss to the Astros, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out only one.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw also plunked Jose Altuve and uncorked a wild pitch, throwing only 42 of 79 pitches for strikes before his exit, and Houston had runners in scoring position in the first and third innings before finally breaking through for two runs in the fourth. Heaney's had a shaky start to his 2024 campaign, posting a 6.75 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB through 12 innings over three outings, and he has yet to last five frames in a start. With the Rangers close to adding Michael Lorenzen (neck) to the big-league roster and Cody Bradford pitching very well, there's no guarantee Heaney keeps his spot in the rotation.

Heaney (0-2) yielded six runs on four hits and three walks over 3.2 innings Monday, striking out two and taking a loss against Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney struggled immediately Monday, coughing up four runs in the first two frames. Despite only getting two punchouts, he managed to force 10 whiffs in the short start. He's thrown just 8.1 innings with a 7.56 ERA and a 9:3 K:BB through two appearances. Heaney is projected for a rematch in Houston this weekend.

Heaney (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Rays after allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out seven in 4.2 innings. He did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney started the game on fire, striking out four of the first seven batters he faced. He endured some tough luck in the third after the Rays scored on a base hit that likely would've been a ground out had the ball not deflected off Heaney's glove. The southpaw opened up the fifth with back-to-back punchouts but couldn't finish the frame after a Jared Walsh error kept the inning alive and led to four more runs, none of which were charged to Heaney. He's set to take the mound again next week versus the Astros and will hope for some better fortune against the Rangers' division rivals.

Heaney allowed five hits and one walk while striking out three over five scoreless innings in Tuesday's spring start against the Guardians.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney busted out a curveball, throwing it four times (three for strikes), per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. Tuesday marked the first time he's thrown the curve in game conditions since 2021 when he scrapped it in favor of a slider. The left-hander plans to use both breaking pitches this season. Whatever he throws, Heaney will need to land it in the zone with more regularity than he did in 2023. Heaney's BB% jumped from 6.1 in 2022 to 9.4 in 2023, while his K% dropped from 35.5 to 23.6.
