Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Red Sox are "still on" Andrew Bailey.
Rosenthal also adds that the team's pursuit of both Bailey and Gio Gonzalez was "very much part of conversation for majority of the time" before they focused solely on Gio for a while after it became apparent that they were in a bidding war with the Nationals. The Red Sox would plug Bailey into the ninth inning while shifting Mark Melancon to a setup role.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Rangers are still interested in Athletics' closer Andrew Bailey.
The Rangers already signed Joe Nathan this offseason, but they are still looking to fortify the back-end of their bullpen. Bailey, 27, is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter and under team control through 2014. The Red Sox are also still in talks with the Athletics, despite acquiring closer-candidate Mark Melancon from the Astros last week.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Red Sox are still pursuing other relievers, including Andrew Bailey of the Athletics.
The Red Sox acquired right-hander Mark Melancon from the Astros on Wednesday, but they could still go in another direction for the ninth inning. While a trade for Bailey is still a possibility, it's not known whether they still have interest in signing Ryan Madson.

Andrew Bailey told Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald that he would welcome a trade to a contender.
"For me, it's interesting to see all the rumors out there," said Bailey. "Oakland has a great organization, but I think everyone knows they're kind of in rebuilding mode. As a player, you obviously want to win. If I had the opportunity to help another team win the World Series, that would be great." Most expect the A's will trade this offseason, but because he's under team control through 2014, the asking price will be significant. The Red Sox, Rangers, Reds and Angels are among the teams who have expressed interest in the 27-year-old closer.

Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Angels have had talks with the Athletics about closer Andrew Bailey.
Some have speculated that the Athletics would be a decent fit for Mark Trumbo now that the Angels have landed Albert Pujols, but Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle was told that any such proposed deal is "total fiction." Meanwhile, Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto said Thursday that they plan to use the 25-year-old at the DH spot, third base and in the outfield. Of course, that doesn't rule them out as a potential suitor for Bailey.

MLB Network's Peter Gammons reports that the Athletics are considering a trade offer from the Red Sox that includes outfielder Josh Reddick and prospects in exchange for closer Andrew Bailey.
The proposal does not include Jed Lowrie. Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the A's also asked for third base prospect Will Middlebrooks, though the Red Sox are naturally reluctant to give him up in any deal. The identities of the other prospects in the proposal aren't yet clear, but Reddick would be an upgrade for an Oakland outfield that has the likes of Ryan Sweeney, Jermaine Mitchell and Jai Miller at the top of their depth chart.

According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the A's asking price on Andrew Bailey is currently "too much" for the Rangers to seriously consider.
The Red Sox, Angels, Mets and Padres have also called A's GM Billy Beane about his closer, but those teams may come to the same conclusion that the Rangers have. Bailey, 27, is under team control through 2014 and is a dominant stopper when healthy, but no reliever is worth a package of quality prospects.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox "will make an attempt" on A's closer Andrew Bailey.
Oakland GM Billy Beane has indicated that he plans to ask for the world in trade talks for Bailey, and that may scare most teams away, but the Red Sox are at least going to try. If it doesn't work out, Boston will likely look back to the free agent market for their next ninth-inning man.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Angels have inquired on A's closer Andrew Bailey.
As has just about every team in baseball. Bailey, 27, is under team control through 2014 and can be one of the most dominant closers in the game when healthy. The A's likely want a package of prospects in return.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Padres have interest in Athletics' closer Andrew Bailey.
The Padres are currently evaluating alternatives for the ninth inning now that Heath Bell has signed with the Marlins. They have a pretty decent in-house option in Luke Gregerson, but look for them to also do their due diligence by exploring the trade market and low-cost bounceback types in free agency. Bailey, 27, is under team control through 2014, so the asking price will be substantial.
