According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Padres have interest in Athletics' closer Andrew Bailey. The Padres are currently evaluating alternatives for the ninth inning now that Heath Bell has signed with the Marlins. They have a pretty decent in-house option in Luke Gregerson, but look for them to also do their due diligence by exploring the trade market and low-cost bounceback types in free agency. Bailey, 27, is under team control through 2014, so the asking price will be substantial.
