Rios (hand) will be activated from the disabled list for Saturday's game against the Cubs, Matthew DeFranks of FOX Sports Kansas City reports. Rios is with his teammates in Chicago on Friday, but the Royals want him to get a day of rest, after he played in rehab games each of the last four days. While he went just 3-for-17 during the rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha, Rios did have a home run and a double.

Rios (hand) could rejoin the Royals this weekend at some point during their three-game series against the Cubs, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Rios is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Monday, and if all goes well, he could collect enough tune-up at-bats to make a bid for the Major League roster by the weekend. The 34-year-old caught a tough break after just seven games this season, as he was hit in the left hand with a pitch and the resulting fracture gave him a 6-to-8 week timetable for return. Fantasy owners are surely hoping he can pick up right where he left off, as Rios began the year 9-for-28 with a home run and two stolen bases.

Rios (hand) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Sunday, Matthew DeFranks of FOX Sports Kansas City reports. Rios has been out since mid-April with the left hand fracture, so he may need a full week of rehab games before the Royals feel comfortable activating him. Upon his return from the DL, Rios should easily claim regular duties in right field over the light-hitting platoon of Paulo Orlando and Jarrod Dyson.

Rios (hand) is expected to begin a rehab assignment in "a couple days," according to manager Ned Yost, 610 Sports Radio's Josh Vernier reports. This suggests that a return in early June could be possible for Rios, who would then presumably return to being the everyday right fielder. Continue to monitor his status to make sure he actually does begin a rehab assignment in the coming days. Paulo Orlando and Jarrod Dyson will continue to get the starts in right field until Rios returns.

Rios (hand) could begin a rehab assignment within the next 7-to-10 days, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Rios has returned to hitting over the last week after suffering a fracture in his left hand in April. There's still no exact timetable on when he'll be able to return to the big league club, but a rehab assignment marks the final step in his recovery, so Rios appears on track to come back early in June.

Rios (hand) hit off a tee Wednesday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Now a month removed from suffering a fracture in his left hand, Rios was cleared to start making contact with baseballs Wednesday after being limited to dry swings for a week or so. The next step for Rios will likely be batting practice, followed by a rehab assignment, but the Royals have not laid out a specific time frame for him to advance to those activities.

Rios (hand) is tentatively scheduled to resume full contact swings by next week, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Rios has been able to take light, dry swings for the first time since suffering a fractured hand, but remains several steps away from being game-ready. At the current pace, he's set to see his first game within roughly six weeks of enduring the injury. Once he is able to participate in a full game, he'll likely need a week or so of at-bats in the minors to get his timing and rhythm back. This would put him on track for a late-May or early-June return.

Rios has begun taking dry swings Thursday but there is still no timetable for his return, the Kansas City Star's Andy McCullough reports. His original timetable would have him returning in late May and that still seems doable. For now Paulo Orlando and Jarrod Dyson will split time in the Royals' outfield.

Rios (hand) is still likely two weeks away from returning, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports. He will likely pick up a bat this week to test his hand with some swings, but a return to the Royals' lineup is still a couple weeks away. Paulo Orlando and Jarrod Dyson will continue to see extra time in the outfield while Rios is out.

Rios (hand) is about two weeks away from returning, but he has yet to grip a baseball, Andy McCullough of The Kansas City Star reports. Rios will likely head out on a rehab assignment before rejoining the Royals, making a return before mid-to-late May unlikely. He seems to be progressing as expected, given his initial timetable of three-to-six weeks.
