Colome didn't strike out a single Astro while notching three saves in this four-game set but he also held Houston to just one base-runner and didn't surrender a hit. As long as his ground ball-inducing approach is working, Colome should remain the closer in Tampa.

EDGE Analysis

While many bullpens underwent overhauls at the trade deadline, Tampa Bay felt comfortable leaving Colome in the ninth inning role. His K/9 fell to an underwhelming 7.43 with this zero-strikeout effort, but Colome has been effective nonetheless with 32 saves in 37 chances.

After a trio of relievers before him kept the Astros at bay, Colome carried out his ninth-inning job to perfection, disposing of Carlos Beltran, Evan Gattis and Alex Bregman on 11 pitches. The hard-throwing closer has back-to-back saves after blowing an opportunity versus the Yankees last Thursday, but he's been more erratic over the last six weeks following a strong start to the campaign. Colome has generated a 6.61 ERA, 1.84 WHIP, .371 wOBA and 5.93 xFIP over 16.1 innings since June 20, a stretch during which he's also logged two of his five blown saves.

The final frame didn't come without its fair share of drama, however, as Colome managed to put two guys on for the meat of the Yankees' order. He managed to get Aaron Judge to pop out and Matt Holliday to ground out to end the threat, though, getting his team the W with a 24-pitch outing. Colome now has a 3.59 ERA on the season, and although his strikeout rate isn't great, his solid job security as the Rays' closer makes him a valuable fantasy asset nonetheless.

EDGE Analysis

The Tampa closer entered with a 7.43 ERA through 13.1 innings over his past 13 appearances, so while he's collected 10 saves during that span, things haven't been going smoothly. Colome's leash is probably long enough that his job isn't in any imminent danger, but there are certainly concerns. It's worth noting that he's shown some resilience and bounced back after rough patches already this season.

Colome gave up two hits in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to pick up his 29th save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Orioles.

EDGE Analysis

He's now converted nine straight save chances since the end of June, but his 3.48 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB in 10.1 innings over that stretch isn't exactly elite. With the Rays still in the hunt for the AL East title or a wild-card spot, Colome seems unlikely to be dealt, so he could regain his focus once the trade deadline has come and gone.

The Rays closer was called on for the second time in as many nights and provided a clean ninth after having been touched up for a run Monday. Colome already has seven saves in July and has bounced back from a difficult late June/early July stretch where he surrendered 10 earned runs over five appearances. The 28-year-old has now posted five scoreless efforts in his last six trips to the mound and lowered his ERA from 4.10 to 3.71 over that span.

Colome allowed one run on one hit but picked up his 27th save of the season during Monday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.

Colome entered the ninth inning with a two-run cushion but quickly cut his team's lead in half after surrendering a leadoff double and heaving a wild pitch to score the runner. He was able to settle down and get Ryon Healy to ground out to short for his 27th save of the campaign. The closer has now converted his last eight save opportunities.

Colome picked up a save with a perfect 10th inning Friday against the Angels.

EDGE Analysis

Colome has now saved each of his past six chances and is 26-for-30 on the season. That said, Colome has been far from clean over that stretch, having allowed three runs with a 5:4 K:BB over 6.1 innings. Either way, fantasy owners will gladly take the saves and run.

Colome, who allowed a single to the first batter be faced, retired the next three men with ease while throwing nine of 13 pitches for strikes. He endured a rough patch leading into July in during which he allowed 10 runs over a five-inning span, but he has since responded with three consecutive scoreless outings while recording a save in each one. Colome has proven himself to be among the top tier of closers in the American League over the last couple of seasons and will look to put his recent struggles behind him after taking a breather during the All-Star break.
