Avila went 1-for-5 and hit a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Avila has now played in 10 games this season and already blasted three home runs. That figure is even more impressive considering he didn't receive an at-bat in two of his 10 appearances. Obviously, this kind of power isn't sustainable, but Avila is worth a look while he's hot in daily leagues or deeper, two-catcher type leagues.

Avila is starting at catcher and batting sixth in Sunday's game against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Avila entered the game at first base the last two days but didn't receive any at-bats. In limited playing time, he's hitting an absurd .412 with a 1.406 OPS and two home runs. Those numbers will of course come down, but the veteran backstop is worth a look right now when he's in the lineup.

Avila went 2-for-2 and blasted his second home run of the season in Sunday's win over the Indians. He also walked twice.
EDGE Analysis
Avila took Carlos Carrasco deep in the second inning with a runner on to give Detroit all the offense it would need in a 4-1 win. Avila and primary Detroit catcher James McCann have combined to hit five home runs this season, giving the offense quite the boost. Avila will continue to get occasional starts when McCann rests, making him an option in daily leagues but off the radar for now in season-long formats.

Avila signed one-year, $2 million deal with the Tigers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
He is coming off an odd campaign with the White Sox, where he hit .213 and struck out 37.3 percent of the time, but was still an above average hitter overall (104 wRC+) due to his 18.2 percent walk rate and subsequent .359 OBP. In leagues that count batting average, however, Avila has been a huge drain in recent years, and he does not hit for enough power to make up for that. He should serve as James McCann's backup in 2017.

Avila is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners, Paul Skrbina of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Avila came off the DL on Saturday following a lengthy bout with a hamstring injury and was behind the plate for the White Sox for the first time since July 5, going 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in the contest. With Dioner Navarro recently getting traded to the Blue Jays, Avila will settle in as the unquestioned top catcher on the depth chart, so he'll just receiving a rest Sunday. Omar Narvaez gets the nod in the matinee, catching White Sox starter Carlos Rodon.

Avila (hamstring) was activated from the DL on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The White Sox cleared room for Avila by shipping Dioner Navarro off to Toronto. Avila hasn't played in the majors since July 5 but he was locked in throughout his rehab assignment, going 7-for-11 with a home run in four games with Triple-A Charlotte. He'll become a free agent again after the season.

Avila (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
This will mark the second rehab stint for Avila during his current stay on the DL after he aggravated his original hamstring injury during a rehab game back in July. If all goes well this time around, Avila could conceivably return to the White Sox within the next week, though with Omar Narvaez seeing considerable time behind the plate, Avila could struggle to find regular starts. The 29-year-old, who's hitting .236 on the season, hasn't played in a major league game since July 5.
