Avila is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Southpaw Matt Strahm is on the mound for Kansas City, meaning James McCann will be taking over behind the plate. Avila has put together a terrific month at the plate, slashing .355/.455/.582 with a staggering 1.036 OPS over 154 at-bats.

Avila is not in Sunday's lineup against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
With left-hander Clayton Richard on the mound for San Diego, Avila will hit the bench in favor of James McCann. Following a scheduled off day, Avila should be back in the lineup Tuesday.

Avila is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Mariners, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
For the second game in a row, Avila will head to the bench as the Mariners send out another left-handed pitcher. James McCann will draw the start behind the dish in his place.

Avila is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
With lefty Ariel Miranda taking the hill for Seattle, manager Brad Ausmus is stacking his lineup with right-handed bats, which pushes Avila to the bench. James McCann will log a start behind the dish in his place.

Avila is not in the lineup Friday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
With Boston sending southpaw Brian Johnson to the mound, Avila will give way to recently activated James McCann (hand) behind the dish. Avila's hot-hitting while McCann was on the DL should continue to earn him regular at-bats, but his .100/.182/.100 slash line against left-handed pitchers this season will likely see him sit most games against lefty starters.

Avila went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
It was his third straight start with a homer and his ninth blast of the season, but despite his productive line in the box score Avila fell short when it counted, striking out with the bases loaded to end the game in the ninth inning. James McCann (hand) should come off the DL in the next couple of days, but Avila's .324/.438/.648 slash line should keep him in the lineup on a regular basis.

Avila is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Avila has settled in as the Tigers' primary catcher with James McCann (hand) on the disabled list, but he'll be held out of the lineup in the series finale with the White Sox bringing a left-handed starter (David Holmberg) to the hill. John Hicks, who homered and drove in two runs in his most recent start behind the plate Friday, will handle catching duties for the matinee.

Avila went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run during Saturday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The backstop is posting excellent fantasy numbers with a .317/.432/.625 slash line, and Saturday's homer was his fourth in his past 13 games. Considering Avila posted a .699 OPS over the past five seasons, it's difficult to envision him continuing his current pace. He did post an .895 mark in 2011 while earning an All-Star nod and a Silver Slugger award, though, so there is potential to maintain fantasy relevance.

Avila is not in the lineup Friday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Avila has just three hits in his past 20 at-bats, and with lefty Derek Holland taking the mound for Chicago, the Tigers decided to give their backstop a night off. John Hicks will assume the catching duties for the evening.

Avila went 1-for-5 with his seventh home run of the season in Wednesday's win over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Avila has cooled off a bit after posting a .382 average through May 20. However, he remains a potent power source whenever he's in the lineup. He also batted second in this one, as the struggling Nick Castellanos was bumped down. More starts in the No. 2 hole, in front of Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez, could lead to a lot of pitches to hit for Avila.
