Manager Buck Showalter said Thursday that Jones was removed late in the game due to cramping, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pedro Alvarez came on to pinch hit for Jones in the top of the ninth in Thursday's loss to Washington. Showalter said that Jones was merely cramping, so it's unclear whether Jones' status heading into Friday's series opener is actually in doubt. A further update on Jones' status figures to be made available Friday before lineups are released.

Jones went 4-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 8-1 win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Jones had been mired in a 6-for-35 slump over his previous nine games, but broke out in a big way with this four-hit effort. With just one long ball separating him from a sixth straight 25-homer campaign, the 31-year-old has been the epitome of consistency over the past few years. His .277/.318/.459 line is right in line with preseason expectations.

Jones went 1-for-5 with a solo homer in Friday's 15-8 loss to the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder got an incredible four-homer barrage in the first inning off Colin McHugh started with a 371-foot shot to left. Jones has hit safely in four of his last five and is slashing .314/.329/.514 over 70 August at-bats.

Jones homered, a solo shot, in a 2-for-4 game in Tuesday's loss to Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
The run was the only one the Orioles managed to plate against the Athletics in a rough offensive night for Baltimore. Jones, though, extended his hitting streak to five games, four of which have been of the multi-hit variety. He now has 22 home runs this season, putting him on pace for 31 this season. If he can maintain that pace, he'll reach the 30-homer mark for the first time since 2013.

Jones went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Jones is swinging a hot bat of late, amassing 11 hits and four homers over the last eight games. The leadoff man doesn't steal many bases, but offers nearly unmatched power at the top of the lineup as he is on pace for a sixth straight season of 25-plus homers. His .269/.317/.462 line looks an awful lot like what we've seen from Jones over the previous two seasons.

Jones went 2-for-4 with a home run, his 19th of the year, in Thursday's loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Jones has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 starts, and has homered in two of his last three. After a monstrous display of power in June (11 home runs with a .982 OPS), the outfielder has cooled off significantly this month (three longballs and a .723 OPS). The opportunity to sell high on Jones is certainly out the window, but there's no reason to complain about a guy pacing toward 30 home runs and 95 RBI.

Jones went 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 6-3 loss against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Jones supplied all of the Baltimore offense in the losing effort, driving in or scoring each of the Orioles' three runs. The pair of walks are nice to see from Jones, who has historically not walked much, but is on pace to eclipse his career high of 36 walks back in 2009. It's also his first season batting primarily in the leadoff spot, which is perhaps an impetus for his newfound patience at the plate. The role has suited Jones well, as he has hit .297 when batting leadoff this season, compared to .224 hitting in other spots in the batting order.

Jones went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Monday's win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Jones has hit safely in 15 of 19 games this month, but still is hitting just .256 in July. The centerfielder is still flashing significant power with 17 homers this season, but his .265 average would be the lowest mark in a complete season.

Jones (back) is in the lineup for Friday's game against Cleveland, batting leadoff and playing center field.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran center fielder got the day off Thursday after experiencing some back spasms earlier in the Orioles' series against the Yankees. He'll draw back into his usual role as the leadoff man and center fielder for Friday's series opener against the red-hot Cleveland Indians. Jones is batting .167 with no extra base hits since returning from the All-Star break.

Jones (back) is out of the lineup Thursday against the Yankees, the Baltimore Sun's Eduardo Encina reports.
EDGE Analysis
He left Wednesday night's game due to back spasms and it's not surprising to see him out for Thursday's day game. Julio Borbon will get the start in center field and hit ninth. Jones should be considered day-to-day for now.
