Orton informed the Bills on Monday morning that he plans to retire, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Orton will finish his career with a total of 101 touchdowns and 18,037 yards, to go along with a 59.5 completion percentage. He turned 32 last November, and will ultimately decide to hang it up after nine NFL seasons. Orton was brought on to relieve E.J. Manuel earlier this season, and will presumably hand the reigns back over to the 24-year-old in 2015.

Orton completed 16-of-23 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Patriots. Orton began the season as EJ Manuel's backup, but he took over the starting job in Week 5 and eventually led the Bills to a 9-7 record, their first winning season since 2004. Orton did have two 300-yard games over the last four weeks of the season, and it's possible that the Bills will bring him back for another season, though he'll be expected to win the job again over Manuel.

Orton will start against New England in Week 17, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports. It's probably bad news for EJ Manuel that the Bills will keep him benched this far into a lost season, but Orton will in any case finish the year as the starter. As much as it's difficult to trust Orton in fantasy football from week to week, he did manage to post a respectable box score of 299 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against New England in Week 6.

Orton completed 32 of 49 passes for 329 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions during Sunday's loss to the Raiders. It was a big fantasy game for Orton, but somewhat hollow as seven of the offense's 14 possessions went three-and-out, and Orton picked up a lot of yardage with the Bills surprisingly chasing the underdog Raiders the entire second half. With the Bills now out of the playoff chase, it wouldn't be shock for the Bills see if EJ Manuel has improved at all during his time on the bench and give him a shot in Week 17 against the Patriots, though we'll see what coach Doug Marrone has to say during the week. Incredibly, Orton has played three games against AFC West opponents and has thrown the ball 154 times across those contests.

Orton completed 14-of-27 passes for 158 yards and an interception during Sunday's 21-13 win over the Packers. Orton spread the ball around to nine different receivers, a fairly impressive feat on just 14 completed passes. Wideout Sammy Watkins and running back Fred Jackson co-led the team with six targets each, though there wasn't much going on in the Bills' passing game to make much of a fantasy impact. Orton, who has failed to reach 200 passing yards in three of the last five games, will try to break through in Week 16 against a Raiders defense allowing the seventh-fewest passing yards per game this season.

Coach Doug Marrone intends to stick with Orton as their starting quarterback the rest of the season even if the team gets eliminated from the playoff chase, The Buffalo News reports. Said Marrone, "No, not for me, unless it changes for somebody else. If you're asking me, personally, my decision is Orton is going to play. If you ask somebody else, they might tell you something different. I don't know." Marrone also said the starting quarterback decision is his to make, though we suppose things could change if higher brass wants to weigh in or the Bills lose by a lopsided score this week and Orton looks terrible. Marrone has proven pretty true to his word in his brief time as coach of the Bills, so while we'll stay on the situation, his statements Wednesday seem to make it less likely we'll see EJ Manuel start a game than one might have thought earlier in the week.

Orton will start this week's game against the Packers. Said coach Doug Marrone on Monday, "He puts us in the best position to win a game." Orton has had his moments since taking over for EJ Manuel in Week 5, but he's also proven he's not good enough to make this team a viable playoff contender. If the weather is decent in Buffalo this week, he could make a decent emergency fantasy starter if the Bills get behind a stronger Packers team, as that's exactly what happened Sunday when they were chasing Denver and Orton ended up throwing for 355 yards with a TD pass and a TD run. If the Bills lose this week and get totally eliminated from the playoff chase, we wonder if the team will turn to Manuel for the last two games just to learn a little more about the guy they still think is the long-term future of the franchise.

Orton completed 38-of-57 passes for 355 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions, in Sunday's 24-17 loss at Denver. He also had a touchdown as a rusher. Orton's stats and the final score are a little deceiving, as he put up a lot of yards in garbage time, while making things close with a short touchdown run in the final minute of regulation. In any event, he put up decent fantasy numbers, minus the two picks, in his return to Denver. He'll have another tough test next week against Green Bay, although that matchup will come at home.

Orton completed 17-of-31 passes for 190 yards, with one touchdown and a pair of interceptions, in Sunday's 26-10 win over the Browns. Orton didn't have a great game, throwing a pick in the end zone at one point, but he was facing a tough pass defense in cold weather. He continues to show a strong rapport with Robert Woods, who caught 4-of-7 targets for 71 yards. On a negative note, Sammy Watkins was a non-factor for the second straight week, although he had to deal with CB Joe Haden for most of the game. Orton will have an opportunity to put up big fantasy numbers in a potential shootout next week at Denver.

This week's game for Orton and the Bills against the Browns is expected to be played in Buffalo, The Buffalo News reports. The Bills' game this past week had to be moved to Detroit due to massive snowfalls in the Buffalo area. The weather has subsided and workers and recruits have done a great job of getting things back on track to play an NFL game at Ralph Wilson Stadium this week. While that's an extremely positive development for the city of Buffalo, it may not be such a great fantasy development for Orton, who thrived in a a controlled atmosphere Monday by completing 24 of 32 passes for 230 yards and two TD passes. Even if the snow gets mostly cleared out of the stadium, this time of year in Buffalo tends to bring wet conditions, or worse, high winds. Pay attention to Sunday's weather forecast if you're considering using Orton against the Browns.
