McFadden (elbow) is expected to be the backup running back Sunday against the Buccaneers, with Alfred Morris possibly being inactive, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden was added to the 53-man roster Tuesday, and while his active status Sunday is certainly a step in the right direction, he's unlikely to get enough touches to make a fantasy impact, with Ezekiel Elliott likely to dominate the touches out of the backfield.

The Cowboys added McFadden (elbow) to their 53-man roster Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, McFadden will be available after taking part in practice the past three weeks. Granted, his participation was merely with the scout team, but he may start to gain some reps as a pass-catching back as the playoffs approach. For now, though, McFadden will likely just be an option as a returner, per head coach Jason Garrett.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said McFadden (elbow) will be promoted to the team's 53-man roster before Tuesday's deadline, Drew Davison of the Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden has been sidelined so far this season while recovering from offseason elbow surgery, but after working with the Cowboys scout team recently, he said he's now ready to join the active roster. That comes as good timing, as McFadden must be promoted to Dallas' 53-man squad by Tuesday's deadline. With Jones confirming the team will make that move this week, McFadden, who finished fourth in the league with 1,089 rushing yards last season, figures to provide the Cowboys with another complementary option to go with Alfred Morris and Lance Dunbar behind star rookie tailback Ezekiel Elliott going forward.

McFadden (elbow) likely won't join the Cowboys' 53-man roster this week, the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Embedded within his second week of a three-week window for activation from the non-football injury list, McFadden has been working with the scout team as the Cowboys prepare for Sunday night's road showdown with the Giants. His recovery from May's broken elbow has taken far longer than expected, but Ezekiel Elliott's excellence has allowed Dallas' staff to take a prudent approach with the team's leading rusher from last season. If McFadden makes an appearance in the current campaign, he must be bumped to the active roster by Dec. 18, when the Cowboys host the Buccaneers.

The Cowboys expect McFadden (elbow) to be available to play before his three-week window for a return closes, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team open the aforementioned window during the week of Thanksgiving, so the best bet for McFadden's first game action of the season likely arrives on Dec. 11 against the Giants in New York. If and when he's active, he'll likely hold down a pass-catching role, while giving Ezekiel Elliott the occasional breather in anticipation of a long playoff run.

McFadden (elbow) is expected to be activated from the non-football injury list this week, the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden will not necessarily be ready to play immediately upon being activated from the NFI list, but when he is, that will give the Cowboys 21 days to decide whether to add him to the active roster or place him on injured reserve. Jones said McFadden "looks to be healthy," and indicated he would be added to the roster "at some point," so it seems more likely than not that he will be able to play at some point before the regular season comes to a close.

McFadden (elbow) is not eligible to be traded, ESPN's Todd Archer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cowboys needed to remove McFadden from the non-football injury list Monday in order to trade him before Tuesday's deadline. The veteran running back said two weeks ago he was healthy enough to play, but even if that's indeed the case, it's not clear there's any role for him on the Dallas roster. McFadden might eventually be ruled out for the season or even released with (or possibly without) an injury settlement.

McFadden says he's ready to play after recovering from offseason elbow surgery, The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram reports. "Elbow is feeling great," McFadden said. "Just sitting back and waiting for my time to get back on the field. It's pretty much up to the coaches. I'm ready to go, so it's just based off their decision."
EDGE Analysis
He's eligible to come off the NFI list this week, but with the Cowboys on bye in Week 7 they will be in no rush to try and find room for McFadden on the 53-man roster. Ezekiel Elliott's tremendous start means that the veteran would be a depth player at best anyway in Dallas, but with backfield injuries starting to pile up around the league McFadden's best chance to see significant action this season might have to come via a trade.

McFadden (elbow) may not have a role in the Dallas offense when he is ready to return, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden can't return any earlier than Week 8, and even if he's ready at that point, there's no clear role for him in the Dallas offense, as Ezekiel Elliott and Alfred Morris have both been effective, with Lance Dunbar (knee) doing solid work on passing downs. It is possible Dunbar's injury could linger, which might open up some passing-down work for McFadden. However, the 29-year-old said he may never regain full extension of his injured arm, raising questions about his ability to contribute as a receiver. What's more, Elliott is a perfectly capable pass-catcher in his own right, and was likely drafted with the expectation that he'll be a big part of the passing game at some point in his career. If McFadden doesn't have a role in the offense, it would be tough to justify keeping him on the roster, as he's unlikely to contribute on special teams. The Cowboys might therefore consider a trade, but it's hard to imagine they'd get much, if anything, in exchange for an aging running back coming off a major injury. There are very few leagues in which it makes sense to own McFadden.

McFadden (elbow) said he may never regain the ability to fully extend his right arm, the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Officially ruled out for at least the first six weeks of the season, McFadden still hasn't practiced since fracturing his elbow in early June. Even if doesn't regain the ability to fully extend his arm, McFadden should be available by mid-season. It does seem quite possible that McFadden's injury could have a long-term impact on his ability to contribute in the passing game, but the Cowboys already have a pair of capable receiving backs in Ezekiel Elliott and Lance Dunbar (knee). As for early downs, Alfred Morris is expected to serve as Elliott's top backup.
