McFadden seems to have the No. 2 running back job locked down, David Moore of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite losing nearly all of last season to an elbow injury, McFadden worked ahead of Alfred Morris -- who may be released before Week 1 -- during the Cowboys' offseason program. Ezekiel Elliott figures to handle a heavy workload in a three-down role, and while McFadden probably won't get many touches unless his young teammate is injured, the 29-year-old should at least have value as a handcuff. McFadden might even jump right into a similar three-down role in the event of an Elliott injury.

McFadden only received an $80,000 signing bonus on his one-year contract with the Cowboys, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden signed a veteran's minimum benefit contract, which means part of his $900,000 base salary will not count against the Cowboys' cap, though he'll still receive the money if he's with the team. While the cap benefit works in his favor, it's still quite telling that he settled for a contract with only $80,000 guaranteed, suggesting his value plummeted in the wake of a season that was mostly lost to a broken elbow. McFadden could still have a shot at the top backup job, as Alfred Morris has a larger contract and less versatility. Of the two, Morris is probably the one who would find his roster spot in jeopardy if the Cowboys were to select a running back or two in the upcoming draft.

McFadden has re-signed with the Cowboys on a one-year deal, Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden broke his elbow last summer and didn't make his 2016 debut until Week 15, ultimately finishing the year with 24 carries for 87 yards and three catches for 17 yards. He'll now compete with Alfred Morris for backup touches behind Ezekiel Elliott, while pass-catching specialist Lance Dunbar signed with the Rams in free agency. McFadden's receiving ability could give him the edge over Morris in a backfield that no longer includes Dunbar.

McFadden played in only three games in 2016 due to an elbow injury, finishing with 24 carries for 87 yards and catching three passes on five targets for 17 yards.
EDGE Analysis
He topped 1000 yards rushing in 2015 for just the second time in his career, but his injury combined with the addition of Ezekiel Elliott prevented McFadden from making any kind of meaningful impact last year. He's a free agent this offseason, but it's not out of the question for the Cowboys to bring him back as veteran depth behind Elliott if the market for his services is soft.

McFadden carried seven times for 28 yards and caught two of three targets for 19 additional yards in Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden started the game as Ezekiel Elliott was held out, but he only received a third of the team's carries in the game as they distributed the burden in that category among several options. Although his workload was limited, McFadden looked explosive on a couple of different plays and will be one of the more capable backup runners active during the postseason.

McFadden (illness) is active for Sunday's game in Philadelphia, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden entered the weekend with a cloud hanging over his Week 17 availability due to an illness that forced him to sit out Friday's practice. The concern was only temporary, though, and he'll be available once Ezekiel Elliott takes a seat after his obligatory 1-to-2 offensive possessions. If McFadden experiences a recurrence of symptoms, Alfred Morris and Lance Dunbar would receive an unexpected opportunity to contribute in the regular season finale.

McFadden (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles, David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden was set to receive the bulk of Dallas' backfield snaps once starter Ezekiel Elliott is pulled from Sunday's game, but after missing Friday's practice due to illness, his status is now in question to even play in Week 17. If McFadden is still sick Sunday, Alfred Morris and Lance Dunbar could instead benefit most from Elliott being preserved for the playoffs.

McFadden is not practicing Friday due to illness, Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
McFadden's illness couldn't come at a worse time, as he is expected to receive the bulk of the Cowboys' running back duties once starter Ezekiel Elliot is pulled Sunday. While he still has time to get healthy prior to kickoff, McFadden runs the risk of losing snaps to Alfred Morris and Lance Dunbar if his sickness doesn't subside. As a result, fantasy owners will need to keep an eye on McFadden's condition before cementing their Week 17 outlook of him.

McFadden is expected to handle most of the reps at running back Sunday at Philadelphia, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cowboys cannot lose their standing as the No. 1 seed in the NFC, but the health of key players is paramount for the divisional round and potentially beyond. As such, Ezekiel Elliott will be in the backfield on the Cowboys' first offensive possession of Week 17, only to be removed at a point perhaps known just to head coach Jason Garrett. Whenever that occurs, McFadden will take on most of the backfield touches.

McFadden ran the ball three times for 10 yards and caught his only target for minus-2 yards in Sunday's 26-20 win over the Buccaneers.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Ezekiel Elliott dominated the workload on the ground out of the Cowboys' backfield, while both Elliott and Lance Dunbar were more involved in the passing game, leaving few opportunities for McFadden to make an impact. He's little more than an insurance policy at RB for Dallas, but could be a viable fantasy dart in Week 17 if the team has nothing to play for and elects to rest Elliott heading into the postseason.
