Tim Stauffer (elbow) is currently long-tossing from 90 feet. He's close to throwing from a mound. Stauffer has been limited to just one start this season due to elbow issues, but it appears he's making some progress. He certainly won't be back anytime soon, though.

Padres transferred RHP Tim Stauffer from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. He'll now be ineligible to return before mid-July. Stauffer has yet to resume throwing since suffered a sprained right elbow.

Tim Stauffer (elbow) remains shut down. The Padres said after Stauffer aggravated an elbow injury in mid-May that he would be in line for an extended amount of rest, and they've stuck to their plan. It's not clear when he'll be allowed to resume throwing.

Padres manager Bud Black acknowledged Saturday that Tim Stauffer (elbow) is going to be out a while. "We're looking at more extensive rest for Tim," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Even when he's eligible to come off the disabled list, he's going to need more time." Stauffer was placed on the disabled list 11 days ago with lingering discomfort in his right elbow. He's currently seeking opinions on how to proceed with his rehab.

Tim Stauffer is getting a second opinion on his right elbow. Stauffer made his season debut last week before returning to the disabled list with recurring soreness in the flexor tendon bundle in his elbow. There's no current timetable for his return.

Padres placed RHP Tim Stauffer on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 15, with a right elbow sprain. Well, that was fast. After beginning the year on the disabled list with an elbow strain, Stauffer made his season debut Monday against the Nationals and gave up four runs (three earned) over five innings. But the elbow is apparently still an issue. The newly-claimed Eric Stults may replace him in the starting rotation.

Padres activated RHP Tim Stauffer from the 15-day disabled list. Stauffer will make his season debut against Ross Detwiler and the Nationals on Monday. The 29-year-old suffered a strained right elbow during the last week of the spring and has been shelved since. He went 9-12 with a 3.73 ERA in 31 outings last season. Stauffer was very effective in his rehab outings and very well may be a mixed league mainstay later this season. For now, however, we wouldn't use him outside of NL-only leagues until he proves he's healthy and effective. Owners in deeper leagues will want to grab Stauffer where he's available because of the streaming possibilities he presents. He and PETCO are a formidable duo when Stauffer is on his game.

Tim Stauffer (elbow) tossed seven scoreless innings Wednesday in a rehab start at Single-A Lake Elsinore. Stauffer yielded a pair of two-out singles in the first inning but escaped that damage and went on to retire 17 straight. He's clearly over the elbow issues that sent him to the 15-day disabled list and should join the Padres' starting rotation next week.

Tim Stauffer (elbow) is scheduled to make his final minor league rehab start on Wednesday. The location for the start will either be Single-A Lake Elsinore or Triple-A Tuscon. Assuming no setbacks with the rehab outing, Stauffer should be back in the Padres' starting rotation the following week.

Tim Stauffer (elbow) allowed two runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings in his first rehab start with High-A Lake Elsinore Sunday. San Diego manager Bud Black said Sunday that Stauffer would need "at least two, maybe three," more rehab starts before rejoining the Padres rotation. Expect Stauffer back in mid-May.
