Tim Stauffer underwent successful surgery on his right elbow Friday. Stauffer had the flexor tendon in his elbow repaired. The 30-year-old right-hander was limited to just one start in the majors this season and with his salary set to jump from $3.2 million in arbitration, it's likely he'll be non-tendered this winter.

Tim Stauffer has indicated that he'll likely undergo surgery on his right elbow. An MRI didn't show any structural damage, but Stauffer is resigned to the fact that exploratory surgery is "probably the next step... open it up and see what's going on. I'm not expecting it to be a ligament. It could be something very minor that's throwing everything off, or it could be more than that. We really won't know until we go in there and take a look." Stauffer has already been ruled out for the season, as he wound up making just one start for the Padres this year due to elbow and shoulder woes. He could be non-tendered this winter.

The Union-Tribune San Diego's Bill Center writes that it's "unlikely" the Padres will tender a contract to Tim Stauffer (elbow, shoulder) this offseason. Stauffer made $3.2 million this season in his second year of arbitration, and the Padres have long-term concerns about his health. In addition to Stauffer, Center considers Dustin Moseley (wrist) and Micah Owings (elbow) non-tender candidates after missing the entire year to injuries.

Tim Stauffer (elbow) is experiencing a sore shoulder as well as a flexor tendon issue in his elbow and won't pitch for the remainder of the season. Stauffer will see specialists for the injuries within the next week. He had recently been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tuscon and has only made one start with the Padres this season due to the elbow issue. At this point, he's no guarantee to even return by the start of next season.

Tim Stauffer (elbow) will make his next rehab start for Triple-A Tucson on Thursday. Stauffer gave up two runs over three innings for Tucson Saturday, throwing 42 pitches. He should be able to go past 60 the next time out and isn't far off from rejoining the Padres' rotation. The righty has been limited to one start this season due to elbow problems.

Stauffer was shut down in mid-May with a right elbow strain, after making just one start for the Padres. He's likely to make several rehab starts, and likely to approach the entire 30-day rehab window, before returning to the team at the end of August.

Tim Stauffer (elbow) is scheduled to throw bullpen sessions on Monday and Wednesday. Stauffer was hoping to throw his first bullpen session Friday, but the Padres apparently want to give him a couple extra days. If all goes well next week, he will travel to Peoria to pitch for the organization's Arizona League affiliate. The 30-year-old right-hander has been sidelined for two months with a right elbow sprain.

Tim Stauffer (elbow) is scheduled for a bullpen session Friday. Stauffer has been able to long-toss without any issues, but throwing from the mound will obviously be a bigger test. He likely won't be back until well into August even if he keeps progressing.
