Zack Kassian will play on a line with Luke Adam and Matt Ellis in his NHL debut on Friday. That line is likely to get bottom-six minutes. That being said, Kassian is still worth keeping a close eye on. It will be particularly interesting to see if he gets any playing time with the man advantage.

Zack Kassian, who was called up on Thursday, should make his NHL debut on Friday against Columbus. Kassian has seven goals and 14 points in 18 AHL games this season. He has plenty of offensive upside, so he's worth keeping an eye on, even if you're in a single season league.

The Buffalo Sabres have recalled forward Zack Kassian from Rochester of the AHL Thursday. Kassian was Buffalo's 1st round pick (13th overall) in the 2009 Draft. He certainly has the talent to stick with the big club, but off-ice issues have concerned the organization in the past so he'll have to prove that he can handle himself off the ice if he wants a permanent gig with the Sabres.

Zack Kassian was among the 16 players that Buffalo sent down to the minors on Monday. Joining him as cuts from the big club were forwards Marcus Foligno, Corey Tropp, Jonathan Parker, Michael Ryan, Colin Stuart, Phil Varone and Derek Whitmore; defensemen T.J. Brennan, Brayden McNabb, Joe Finley, Drew Schiestel and Dennis Persson and goaltender Drew MacIntyre. MacIntyre, Persson, Ryan and Stuart have to clear waivers before reporting. The Sabres also sent veterans Ales Kotalik and Shaone Morrisonn down to the AHL level.

The Buffalo Sabres are likely to start Zack Kassian in the AHL this season. Kassian was a dominant force in junior hockey in 2010-11, his final year of junior eligibility, but the 20 year-old will face stiffer competition with the Portland Pirates of the AHL. He certainly has the talent to make a quick jump to the big club, but off-ice issues have concerned the organization in the past so he'll have to put the team's mind at ease before making the transition.
