Viktor Fasth won his first game as an Oiler in dramatic fashion, making 28 saves and another two in the shootout to beat Minnesota 4-3 on Tuesday night.. In six NHL games this season, the 31 year old is 3-2-1 with a .889 save percentage and 2.92 goals against average. Fasth will battle for starts with Ben Scrivens down the stretch. This was Fasth's first NHL start since Nov. 18.

Viktor Fasth is likely to play between the pipes on Tuesday. It would be Fasth's first start in an Oilers' uniform. He had a great rookie season with a 2.18 GAA and .921 save percentage in 25 games, but 2013-14 has been a disaster. He only played in five contests with Anaheim this season before they dealt him, so this should be a welcome change of scenery for him.

Getting Viktor Fasth from the Anaheim Ducks will cost the Edmonton Oilers a 2015 third-round pick and a 2014 fifth-round selection. That's not a bad haul for Fasth, given that he's only played in five NHL games this season. Fasth is signed through the 2014-15 campaign, so this is not a rental for the Oilers.

Look for Fredrik Andersen to be sent to the minors while Fasth backs up Jonas Hiller.

Fasth has been out of action since November 18 but played his first game since then as he stopped 29 of 32 shots. His Norfolk Admirals dropped a 4-1 decision to Albany. Fasth was highly regarded coming into this season as the 31-year-old sophomore had a great start to his career in 2012-13, winning his first eight games and ending the season with a 2.18 GAA and a .921 save percentage. But he was only 2-2-1 with a 2.95 GAA and a .885 save percentage before getting hurt.

Viktor Fasth, out since late November due to a lower body muscle inflammation, will soon be ready to return to the Anaheim lineup, according to coach Bruce Boudreau.
