Zykov supplied an assist and three shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Zykov earned his first point of the year with the secondary assist on William Carrier's opening goal 5:01 into the game. Zykov has only appeared in 42 NHL games, with 14 points to his credit over parts of four seasons. The Russian winger is currently enjoying third-line usage while Alex Tuch (undisclosed) is out of action.

Zykov opened the scoring for Vegas in its 3-1 win over San Jose on Saturday.

Zykov crashed the net to sweep in a rebound originating from a Max Pacioretty shot. The hockey world is still anticipating a breakout season from the Russian, but he didn't exactly light it up in prior stints with the Hurricanes and Oilers. He's registered only six goals and seven assists over 40 NHL games.

Zykov potted his second goal of the campaign and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Kings.

Zykov had two goals and three helpers between the Oilers, Hurricanes and Golden Knights, combining to feature in 28 games this season. He featured on the top line Saturday, but will likely find himself in the press box more often than not in the playoffs.

Zykov was benched in the final 20 minutes of Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

The Golden Knights count as Zykov's third team of the 2018-19 season, so needless to say, he can ill-afford to have any factors interrupting his quest to earn a full-time roster spot with an NHL club. Nabbed by the Kings in the second round (37th overall) of the 2013 draft, Zykov didn't pan out in either Carolina or Edmonton before Vegas claimed him off the waiver wire on Dec. 29.

Coach Gerard Gallant told reporters there's a good chance Zykov will arrive in Vegas on Wednesday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.

If Zykov does in fact join his new club Wednesday, he could make his Golden Knights debut as soon as Friday against Anaheim. The Russian winger, who was waived by the Hurricanes and Oilers before being claimed by Vegas, has notched three assists in 18 NHL appearances this campaign.
