He's built up the reputation of being an agitating scoring winger, and the additional training this summer figures to make him even more difficult for opponents to deal with.

A wrist injury prevented Bertuzzi from cracking the Opening Night roster, but given that he'd won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as playoff MVP for AHL Grand Rapids in 2017, there was nothing more for the gritty scoring winger to prove in the minors, so he joined the parent club in early December and never looked back. Bert packs plenty of promise offensively, so we'd consider tabbing him as a sleeper in fantasy drafts this coming fall.

This was the rookie's first multi-point showing since Jan. 16, and he recorded just a single goal and four assists through the 20 games in between. There's a lot to like about Bertuzzi's long-term fantasy upside because of his cross-category profile. Additionally, he also appears to be in line for more offensive minutes through the end of the season. Still, it might be wise to take a wait-and-see approach in most seasonal settings.

Bertuzzi will see a significant increase in playing time following Monday's trade that sent Tomas Tatar to the Golden Knights, MLive.com reports.

A hard-nosed winger with scoring acumen, Bertuzzi reportedly will accompany Dylan Larkin and Andreas Athanasiou on the second line starting with Wednesday's road game in St. Louis. Don't read too much into this. The transaction is likely one of many "paper moves" that happened Monday to make players eligible for the AHL playoffs. Bertuzzi, who has 11 points in 28 games with the Wings, could be recalled as soon as Tuesday.

This proved to be the turning point of the game, as the Islanders proceeded to score four times before the Bertuzzi penalty expired. Known for his fiery playing style, this was a colossal mistake by the rookie, and while this is only speculation, it wouldn't be surprising to see coach Jeff Blashill send him a message in the form of reduced playing time or making him an outright scratch in Sunday's road clash with the Capitals.

The nephew of former Red Wing Todd Bertuzzi is up to nine points (two goals, seven assists) through 13 games, with the lofty production not all that surprising given that he averaged a point per game en route to MVP honors for his fine work in the 2017 Calder Cup playoffs.

The two-point showing has the rookie up to a goal and seven helpers through his past nine games, and Bertuzzi appears to have earned a scoring role in short order. Most rookies struggle with game-to-game consistency, so there are likely to be plenty of offensive peaks and valleys in the second half for Bertuzzi. However, his offensive track record at the lower levels and current role make him an intriguing asset moving forward.
