Krug (face) resumed skating after the Bruins' practice Saturday, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports, adding that the star defenseman was fitted with a "plastic protective helmet piece for his mouth."
EDGE Analysis
This appears to be the first major step for Krug in his recovery from a fractured jaw, an injury stemming from his taking a puck to the grill in a preseason game against the Red Wings on Sept. 19. He was initially given a three-week timetable for his return, meaning he could only be forced out for a few games to start the new season.

Krug, who took a puck to the face in Tuesday's preseason game against the Red Wings, will be out for at least three weeks as he is dealing with a non-displaced fracture.
EDGE Analysis
Based on his timeline for reevaluation, the mobile puck mover from the back line is on pace to miss the first three regular-season contests at a minimum. Despite his small stature at 5-foot-9 and 186 pounds, Krug is pretty durable, as he's only missed nine regular-season contests since becoming a full-timer with the Spoked-B in 2013-14; this latest malady was a freak accident that could happen to anyone. Newcomer Paul Postma could get a serious look now that Krug's expected to start the season late.

Krug took a puck to the face Tuesday against the Red Wings and left the game under his own power, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Krug will not return to this preseason contest, but that doesn't fairly illustrate the severity of the injury since the Bruins may just be exercising caution in an exhibition game. Keep an eye on this power-play guru as more information is revealed on his injury.

Krug (knee) was on the ice for practice Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This session comes early for Krug and several more Bruins regulars, and it eases concerns about the MCL strain that prevented the diminutive playmaking defenseman from suiting up in last season's playoffs. He's put up 44 and 51 points, respectively, the last two seasons, so tab Krug in a near-elite class at a position where consistent offense is generally hard to come by.

Krug, who missed all six of the Bruins' playoff games, revealed that he was dealing with an MCL strain in his right knee, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
EDGE Analysis
Krug's postseason absence was noticeable, with his puck-moving ability and power play prowess greatly missed by the Bruins. Given that he noted upon the completion of the team's first-round playoff loss to the Senators (in six games) that he may have been able to suit up if the series had gone to a Game 7, it's safe to assume that Krug should be fully fit by the next time the B's take the ice. Signed with Boston through the 2019-20 campaign, Krug is set to reprise his key role on the Boston back line in 2017-18. In 81 regular season tilts, the 26-year-old logged eight goals and a fantasy-friendly 51 points to go along with 37 PIM and a minus-10 rating.

Krug told reporters Tuesday that it was a knee injury that caused him to miss the final game of the regular season, as well as the Bruins' entire postseason run.
EDGE Analysis
The severity of Krug's knee ailment has not been revealed, but considering he was skating prior to Boston's elimination from the playoffs, it would appear for the moment that he avoided a serious injury. Krug posted career highs in assists (43) and points (51) in his fourth full season with the Bruins, but also showed a career-worst minus-10 rating. Assuming he works on his defensive game in the offseason, he could soon be one of the NHL's elite blueliners.

Krug (lower body) won't play in Sunday's game against Ottawa.
EDGE Analysis
Krug missed the season finale and hasn't slotted into any playoff games yet, but according to head coach Bruce Cassidy said he's "getting closer" to returning. Krug's 51 points in 81 games prove he's a talented offensive defenseman, so his continued absence has been a major detriment for the Bruins.

Krug (lower body) is not expected to play Friday's Game 5 in Ottawa.
EDGE Analysis
The dynamic defenseman went down with the injury two weeks ago, and is yet to take part in practice. This fact seems to imply that Krug may not be able to go at any point in the series, which would be a huge blow to the Bruins who trail the Sens 3-1. Rookie Charlie McAvoy has been remarkable while filling a role similar to Krug's as a puck-moving defenseman and powerplay distributor, but without Krug, the Bruins are forced to use lower quality options like Joe Morrow and John-Michael Liles during the most important time of the season.

Krug (lower body) is not slated to play Wednesday night against the Senators, the Bruins' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brandon Carlo and Adam McQuaid also remain out, though the banged up Boston blue line will at least be bolstered Wednesday by the expected return of Colin Miller. We'll consider Krug day-to-day as Friday's Game 5 in Ottawa approaches, but we're not especially optimistic that he'll be back for that contest.

Krug (lower body) was not spotted at Tuesday's practice, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
EDGE Analysis
The same applies to fellow blueliner Adam McQuaid, with the duo thus unlikely to suit up Wednesday night against the Senators, barring a sudden turn of events in advance of the contest. Though young Charlie McAvoy has provided the team's defensive corps with a lift in the postseason, Krug's puck-moving ability and power play prowess have definitely been missed by the Bruins, who are now down 2-1 to Sens in their first-round series.
