The Wings still haven't had any communication with Tomas Holmstrom regarding his future. The 39-year-old has stated he either wants to play in Detroit next season or retire. It's looking like hanging up the skates is a real possibility. He had 11 goals and 24 points last season.

Tomas Holmstrom has narrowed his options down to playing for Detroit or retiring. Holmstrom isn't interested in signing with any other club. For now he's training like he normally would, but he still isn't sure if he wants to play in 2012-13. He plans to talk to Red Wings GM Ken Holland is a week or two to discuss his future.

Tomas Holmstrom is apparently leaning toward playing another season and he would like that to be with the Detroit Red Wings. "We'll see, though," said Holmstrom. "My knees are feeling good right now but I've had trouble with them (during the past few seasons)." Detroit GM Ken Holland said that he wants to hold off any decisions on the matter until after free agency begins on July 1 and explore some other options first.

Tomas Holmstrom and the Red Wings need time before making the decision on whether he will return to the team next season. Cash is certainly not an issue for the franchise. For Holmstrom it comes to down to whether he has the energy to return for another season while the Wings need to see how things shape up with potential trades and free agency.

The Red Wings will hold off making a decision on Tomas Holmstrom's future until July. The 39-year-old has been debating playing another year or retiring. If he returns, he will do so with the Wings and he will do so in a power-play/fourth-line role. "They're going to decide [in the] beginning of July what's going to happen," Holmstrom said. The forward had 11 goals and 24 points last season, his 15th in the NHL.

Now that Nicklas Lidstrom has retired, Tomas Holmstrom may also decide to call it quits. He has been debating for the last month whether he should return for the 2012-13 season. The Wings have not indicated if they will re-sign Holmstrom, so if he does want to continue his NHL career, it may be with another team..However, with Lidstrom leading the way, Holmstrom may feel it best he retire a Red Wing. Stay tuned.

Tomas Holmstrom has not decided whether he will return for the 2012-13 season. Holmstrom is 39 and even if he agrees to return, it is no sure thing that the Red Wings will re-sign him. He thinks it will take a couple of more weeks at most to decide his future."Some days I feel like yes (I'll return), and some days no, and some days it's just aches and pain," Holmstrom said. While he continues to mull over his future, Holmstrom continues to work out.
