Coach Kevin Dineen is encouraged that Tomas Fleischmann will be available to play this weekend. "He had a pretty good day today, so we're feeling positive that he got a quality chance to be in this weekend," said Dineen on Thursday. "I haven't made that final decision yet, but I'm encouraged by how he feels and how he looks today, and the medical feedback. So that's a positive. We're feeling good that he's got a good chance of playing." Stay tuned.

Tomas Fleischmann will undergo further testing after receiving a chicken-wing elbow to the head from Rangers forward Andre Deveaux on Wednesday night. Deveaux received a five-minute major and match penalty for an intentional hit to the head at the 10:59 mark of the second period and will likely face a suspension. Fleischmann was able to return later in the period, but he reported a headache after the contest. It looks like he will be all right, but we'll keep you posted if we hear otherwise.

Center Tomas Fleischmann picked up assists on both of Florida's goals to lead the Panthers to a 2-1 victory over the visiting New York Rangers Wednesday night. They were the 12th and 13th assists of the season for Fleischmann, who set up Jason Garrison for his eighth goal of the season in the first period and Kris Versteeg for his 12th goal in the second period.

I haven't played like this all the time, but now I'm up on the first line and it always goes like that. Hopefully it keeps going like this."

A talented forward, he's probably the frontrunner to lead Florida in scoring this season and one of the only Panther you would want on your fantasy team.

When the Colorado Avalanche acquired Fleischmann last season, they gave him a chance to get top minutes and he rewarded them with 21 points in 22 games. Unfortunately, Fleischmann's season was cut short due to a pulmonary embolism. That's in the past and now he's getting top line minutes with the Panthers. We wouldn't be surprised if he sets a new career-high with about 60 points.

Tomas Fleischmann scored his first goal as a member of the Panthers Tuesday in a 4-2 loss at Pittsburgh. The former member of the Capitals and Avalanche was victimized by the Penguins as he coughed up the puck leading directly to Pittsburgh's third goal of this game, but he rebounded by scoring his first marker of the year early in the third period. A talented forward, he's probably the odds-on favorite to lead the Panthers in scoring.

Florida GM Dale Tallon is excited about the talent level of free agent signing Tomas Fleischmann. He said he believes Fleischmann, "is going to be something special." He will be the highest paid forward on the Panthers with an average cap hit of $4.5 million in each of the next four seasons. Fleischmann had 21 points in 22 games for Colorado last season before a blood clot was discovered in each of his lungs. He is healthy now though and ready to make an impact on an overhauled Florida roster.
