Tomas Fleischmann scored his 21st goal of the season Friday night but it wasn't enough as the Florida Panthers dropped a 2-1 shootout decision to the Penguins in Pittsburgh Friday night. Fleischmann opened the scoring midway through the second period in this game on a give-and-go of sorts. The left winger worked the boards and fed Wojtek Wolski in the slot before darting to the net. Wolski's shot went wide of the goal and took a big bounce off the boards and onto Fleishmann's stick.

It's been roughly a year since Tomas Fleischmann's 2010-11 campaign came to an abrupt halt due to an acute pulmonary embolism. "It was a tough time," Fleischmann said. "But my parents taught me that things happen for a reason. It's better than having a concussion because it's something I have under control. People could say [my career] might be over but the doctors say there's a way. We took the chance." The Panthers took a chance on Fleischmann over the summer, signing him to a four-year contract despite his previous condition. So far, the Panthers gamble has paid off as Fleischmann has been one of their best players with a 16 goals and 35 points in 48 games this season. Look for him to finish the season with 50-60 points.

Tomas Fleischmann snapped an eight-game pointless drought with his 16th goal of the year on Tuesday night. It was assisted by Stephen Weiss and Kris Versteeg, marking the first time that the Panthers' top line had all contributed on a goal in 22 games. The trio began the 2011-12 season red hot, but their offense has cooled of late. They will hope to get back on track following the All-Star break.

Tomas Fleischmann has hit a wall offensively recently. He doesn't have a point in six consecutive contests after getting off to a brilliant start in 2011-12. He signed a four-year/$18 million contract with the Panthers over the summer, which at the time seemed pretty risky, but now is looking a brilliant move by GM Dale Tallon. We wouldn't be surprised if Fleischmann slows down, but he won't collapse. Fleischmann should get 60-70 points this season if he can stay healthy.

Tomas Fleischmann tallied his 12th goal of the season and added two assists as the Florida Panthers blitzed the San Jose Sharks for five goals in a 5-3 win Saturday night. The talented Fleischmann has been a steal for those fantasy owners who took a chance on him this season. He's truly showing what a top-six forward opportunity (and good health) can do as he has 27 points in 26 games. Stephen Weiss also had a three-point night, with his ninth goal of the season coming on the power play. Jack Skille, Marco Sturm and the offensively-gifted blueliner, Dmitry Kulikov (power play), all scored their second goals of the year. Kulikov has 16 points in the 2011-12 campaign.

Tomas Fleischmann scored his 10th goal of the season in a 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday. Fleischmann got hit in the head during Wednesday's contest, but he didn't miss any playing time as a result. Stephen Weiss assisted on Fleischmann's goal.
