Goalie Start: Mason will start for the Flyers. dailyfaceoff.com Tue 4/8/14 7:56 PM

Mason allowed two goals on 19 shots in Sunday's win over the Sabres. It was a nice, easy day for Mason, who will go head-to-head with Roberto Luongo tonight. Mason has won just two in his last five starts with a 2.40 GAA and .914 SV%. He has gone 1-1 with a 2.04 / .913 against Florida this season.

DAILY PRIME - APRIL 7, 2014: LET THE SITTING BEGIN.. primepucks.com Mon 4/7/14 6:12 AM

While Marc-Andre Fleury was undoubtedly the fantasy star of Pittsburgh's 3-2 road win in Colorado with 39 saves, an important side story for owners was that both Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz were scratches. Like Boston, the Pens don't have much to play for and will pull out all the stops to enter the playoffs on a healthy note. This truly means that any fantasy owners starting any key Pittsburgh players will be doing so at their own risk. Defenseman Paul Martin could be the possible exception, considering he is working his way back through an injury. In the case of Edmonton, their young players have been performing very well even though the team has been out of playoff contention for seemingly forever. With three home games in the final week, fantasy owners should consider starting their key Oilers. Last night, Taylor Hall collected a goal and 2 assists, giving him 77 points in 72 games on the season. With 9 points in his last 5 games, the youngster is a must-start this week. The same should hold true for Jordan Eberle who has disappointed for much of the campaign but has come back strong lately. He chipped in with a goal and an assist, raising his totals to 8 points in the last 5 games. It's unbelievable that the underachieving Eberle will have a crack at the 70-point mark if he could end the season with 6 points in the last 3 games. I would also like to mention arguably the biggest underachiever of Edmonton's talented young nucleus, d-man Justin Schultz, who scored a goal and an assist, giving him 32 points in 70 games despite being maddenly inconsistent all season. This guy should get 40+ points in his sleep. He might be worth a flier as well, as the young guns in "Oil Town" seem destined to end this debacle of a season on a high note. Columbus grabbed an important 2 points last night as Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside all 31 shots he face for a 4-0 blanking of the NY Islanders. That's 2 shutouts in the past three games for the Blue Jacket goalie, clearly indicating that he is up to the task of carrying the team to the playoffs.  Start him with extreme confidence for this last week, and also for the next few seasons to come. Steve Mason had a fairly easy game in net for the Philadelphia Flyers as they defeated the Buffalo Sabres 5-2. Mason was staked to a 4-0 lead heading into the third period and only faced 19 SOG.  Even though the victory didn't clinch the Flyers a playoff position, it would take a total collapse for them not to get in.  The way ...

Goalie Start: Mason will be between the pipes for Philly. dailyfaceoff.com Sun 4/6/14 2:56 PM

Mason allowed two goals on 27 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Blue Jackets on Thursday. He was given last night off, but will start tonight vs. the Sabres. The easy matchup is much needed for Mason, who has lost three of his last four starts with 2.49 GAA and .917 SV%. With the Sabres in town, be sure to get him into your lineup.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 4/6/2014 primepucks.com Sun 4/6/14 10:47 AM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT The St. Louis Blues won't have much time to wonder what went wrong in their 4-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche yesterday afternoon as they are right back it today with Brian Elliott facing the Chicago Blackhawks. Corey Crawford should be getting the call for the Hawks as they look to close out the season on a strong note.  Chicago is still within reach of 4th place overall in the Western Conference which would give them home ice advantage through the first round at least; so there is something to play for. Tough matchup to call.... Look for Dallas to go right back to Kari Lehtonen (LIKELY) in the back end of back-to-back nights. The Stars are looking to hold on to the last playoff position in the West and have a game in hand on the Phoenix Coyotes who are chasing them.  They head to Florida to take on Roberto Luongo (LIKELY) and the Panthers who have practically packed it in for the season.   Go Stars.... Short-term memory needs to be in the cards for the Columbus Blue Jackets, who suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of Chicago after allowing a goal with 3.7 seconds left in regulation. Despite only winning 2 of his last 7 starts, Sergei Bobrovsky should be back in net as he has owned the Islanders with a 9-2 career mark and a 2.00 GAA. Must-win situation should bring the best out of the Ohio boys.... After getting the night off for the Flyers, goalie Steve Mason will be back between the pipes today facing a much easier opponent in Buffalo. Even though he has come up short in 3 of his last 4 starts, his stats have been decent- 2.49 GAA and .917 SP. With the opportunity to gain home ice advantage over probable first round playoff opponent New York Rangers, expect the Flyers to bring this one home. Huge edge to Mason... A battle of two "A" teams at the Pepsi Center tonight, as Colorado will host Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. While the Avalanche have been surging, something tells me that the Pens will bounce back strongly after being blanked by the Wild, making a strong statement in the process... Interesting game in Edmonton, as Oiler starting goalie Viktor Fasth gets another chance to beat his old team, the Anaheim Ducks, as he allowed 3 goals on 26 shots in a loss the last time around. Expect more of the same, as the Ducks look to finish ahead of San Jose and the Oilers have been grounded for some time.... FANTASY MUST STARTS: Kari Lehtonen, Dallas @ Florida Sergei ...

Goalie Start: Mason likely to start for the Flyers. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 4/3/14 2:56 PM

Mason allowed three goals on 30 in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Bruins on Sunday. Mason will be sad to see March go after going 8-2-2 with a 2.48 GAA and .917 SV% in 12 March starts. He will face his former team tonight, he was victorious in the first reunion.

Goalie Start: Mason leads the Flyers onto the ice warmups. dailyfaceoff.com Sun 3/30/14 2:56 PM

Mason allowed two goals on 34 shots in a win over the Maple Leafs on Friday. Mason is an impressive 8-2-1 with a 2.45 GAA and .918 SV% this month, but is a risky start vs. the Bruins. They are red-hot right now and he was absolutely shelled in his first outing vs. Boston.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 3/28/2014 primepucks.com Fri 3/28/14 3:19 PM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT Jonathan Bernier goes for the second straight start for the Toronto Maple Leafs since returning from his injury but is facing a Philadelphia Flyers team who is looking to rebound from their loss to the Rangers on Tuesday night. The Leafs have loss 6 in a row, so this is not going to be easy.  Steve Mason wasn't particularly sharp as he had been in games prior so look for Mason to return to form....... Another team struggling at the moment are the Pittsburgh Penguins who have lost 4 of last 5. Marc-Andre Fleury should be able to get the Pens back on track over the Columbus Blue Jackets who are starting Curtis McElhinney. Bobrovsky is under the weather therefore the McElhinney start.......... Craig Anderson gets the call for the Ottawa Senators tonight as Lehner suffered a minor injury the other day in practice. Anderson was due for start since he was sidelined for the past seven games with an injury.  Not an easy game to come back to as the faces Corey Crawford (LIKELY) and the Chicago Blackhawks who are playing to hold onto the home ice advantage for at least the first round of the playoffs. Ottawa is in bit of a freefall losing 9 of last 11.  Hawks prevail..... Kari Lehtonen (LIKELY) will host the Nashville Predators tonight in Big D. The Stars are looking to gain some ground on the 8th place Phoenix Coyotes but time is running out with the Stars 5 points behind but they have 2 games in hand. Expect Pekka Rinne (LIKELY) to get the nod after the Preds played last night with Hutton in net. Dallas has a lot on the line this game, so go with Lehts........ The New York Rangers start a 4-game road trip with 3 stops in Western Canada and the last in Colorado. First up are the pesky Calgary Flames.  Even though the Flames are mired near the bottom of the Western Conference, they have proven to be tough to play against, so it will not be an easy night for Henrik Lundqvist. Karri Ramo gets the call for the Flames and he has been hot of late, winning 2 of last 3 since returning to the lineup. Perhaps the Rangers will not be as ready especially after beating rival Philly the other night.  Letdown for the Rangers..... Anaheim would love to inch back towards the top of the NHL standings with a win over Ben Scrivens (LIKELY) and the Edmonton Oilers. With the Ducks just 2 behind San Jose and 6 behind NHL leading St. Louis, this game is critical.  Anaheim will have Jonas Hiller in net as they try to ...

Goalie Start: Mason is in the 'starter's crease' this morning; expe... dailyfaceoff.com Fri 3/28/14 2:56 PM

Mason gave up three goals on 29 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Rangers on Wednesday. It was a key game for the Flyers, but they were unable to get the W. Mason had been on a four-game winning streak but now sits at 7-2-1 with a 2.49 GAA and .916 SV% in March. Tonight, it looks like he will face the Maple Leafs in another huge matchup. Mason has gone 0-1-1 vs. Toronto this season.
