Bernier had to be helped off the ice late in Wednesday's game against the Red Wings after attempting a check on defender Brendan Smith and slamming into the boards. He suffered an apparent left hip injury, according to NJ.com. "We're going to have to take him to get an X-ray. It's not good, I can tell you that," said coach and general manager, Lou Lamoriello. "Unfortunately, I think it's fairly serious." He was down for a while before teammates helped him off. He's one tough ombre, so you know it's bad when he goes down and stays there. He was able to leave the Devils' dressing room on his own after the game, although he was limping noticeably. X-rays will reveal more.

Bernier picked up the primary assists on both the Devils' goals Tuesday in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Blackhawks. That's the second two-point effort in four games for the grinding depth forward. While it's of some minor note that he's on his best scoring pace in years, that's just seven points in 18 games, so his fantasy value remains quite limited.
