Bernier will miss "up to two weeks" with a lower-body injury, CBS New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier signed a one-year contract with the Islanders on Sept. 17, presumably to fill in as an emergency forward when injuries strike. The 32 points (16 goals and 16 assists) that Bernier posted last season with the Devils tied a career high.

Bernier signed a one-year (one-way), $750,000 contract with the Islanders on Thursday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Islanders were set to bring Bernier in on a tryout basis for training camp, but after they were able to rid themselves of Michael Grabner and his $3 million cap hit, the team opened up room to formally sign Bernier. The winger, who scored a career-best 16 goals with the Devils last season, isn't expected to see nearly as much run in Brooklyn this year, as the Isles' third and fourth lines already appear fairly solidified. Look for Bernier to serve as an extra forward and enter the lineup primarily when injuries surface.

Bernier signed a professional tryout contract with the Islanders on Wednesday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coming off a season in which he tallied a career-high 16 goals, it's a bit surprising Bernier wasn't able to earn a guaranteed contract in free agency, but it may have been a byproduct of teams fading his unsustainable 15.0 percent shooting rate. Even so, Bernier will could be a viable competitor for a third- or fourth-line role in training camp with the Isles, but perhaps more importantly, he'll give the organization some leverage while they work to negotiate a new contract for restricted free agent Brock Nelson.

The Devils will not attempt to re-sign Bernier in the offseason, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Despite tying career bests in goals (16) and assists (16) in 2014-15, the Devils have no interest in re-signing Bernier in the offseason. Although he's only 30 years old, the Devils may be looking to get younger across the board, which means Bernier will be in search of a new team for the 2015-16 campaign. He shouldn't have too much trouble finding a suitor, however, as there are plenty of teams who could use a veteran forward like Bernier who can still put the puck in the net on a semi-regular basis.

Bernier posted his second straight multi-point game Thursday, scoring two goals -- one on the power play -- in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Lightning.
One heck of a burst at the end of the year here for Bernier, who's now set a new career best with 16 goals and matched his career-high 32 points. He'll get a chance to establish a new career points mark Saturday in the season finale against Florida.

Bernier scored a goal and picked up a power-play assist Tuesday in a loss to the Rangers.
With that, Bernier's now hit 30 points for the first time since 2008-09 with Vancouver. It's a nice offensive year by his standards, but his fantasy value remains slender outside of deep leagues.

Bernier potted two goals in Friday's win over Buffalo.
That's 12 goals and 26 points in 56 games for Bernier, who's been skating on the top line with Adam Henrique and Scott Gomez. While he's producing of late, the 29-year-old rarely shoots the puck, managing just 84 shots on goal all season. He's a decent secondary scorer, but having never surpassed the 15-goal mark in his career, the inconsistent Bernier is valuable in only deeper formats.

Bernier picked up two assists in Tuesday's loss to the Wild.
Bernier has recorded six assists in his last four games, a rather shocking development from a player who has never tallied more than 32 points in a season. The Devils' desperate need for top-six talent has opened the door for Bernier to earn increased work on scoring lines, and to his credit, he's been able to take advantage thus far. Even so, his modest season totals of 10 goals and 24 points over 52 games still limits his value to deeper formats at this time.

Bernier provided three assists -- one on the power play -- in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Flyers.
The trio of helpers came at a good time for Bernier as he had collected just one point in his last nine games after a hot scoring stretch. The 29-year-old eclipsed the 20-point mark for the sixth time in his career, and is just 10 points away from tying his career-high 32 points. While he may be able to reach that plateau, the winger doesn't provide consistent enough production for fantasy owners outside of deeper formats.

Bernier scored the Devils' lone goal in Saturday's loss to the Predators. It came on the power play. He's actually been providing decent fantasy production in his last 12 games. He has eight points, including seven goals, in that span. That's pretty good considering he has just three goals in his previous 29 games. Use him if you need some scoring depth.
