Bernier (hip) will not return to action Friday against the Canadiens, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. Though Bernier was viewed as a candidate to play Friday after taking part in the morning skate, the Devils will have the luxury of giving him an extra day to rest with several of the team's ill forwards returning to action. It sounds like Bernier avoided a potentially catastrophic injury after he fell victim to a nerve issue with his hip late in Wednesday's game, perhaps making him an option to play Saturday against the Flyers.
