The Florida Panthers point out that center Stephen Weiss is on a season-high five-game points streak with four goals and two assists.
Weiss is also tied for the Panthers' team lead with 54 points this season. When you consider the fact that he's been one of the faces of the franchise for many lean years, he seems especially deserving of being a part of a successful (possibly Southeast Division-winning) team this season.

Stephen Weiss skipped Monday's practice due to "a few bumps and bruises," according to coach Kevin Dineen.
However, the Florida bench boss said that Weiss is expected to remain in the lineup and play in Philadelphia Tuesday night. He has recorded a goal and three assists in his past four games to give him 51 points this year.

Stephen Weiss played with new linemates, Mikael Samuelsson and Sean Bergenheim, in Sunday's 4-2 victory over Montreal.
Despite not playing with the talents of Tomas Fleischmann and Kris Versteeg, Weiss was a force in the contest with two goals and one assist. His pair of tallies were the first time he had found the back of the net in his past 12 games. Weiss was honored before the contest, with a plaque and golf vacation, for becoming the franchise's all-time leader in games played during Thursday's match and perhaps the ceremony helped ignite his performance.

Center Stephen Weiss will be honored by the Florida Panthers' organization at centre ice before the team plays this afternoon.
Weiss erased ex-teammate Radek Dvorak's games-played, franchise record Thursday against Minnesota (614). "Honestly, this whole thing isn't my style,'' said Weiss, 28, who was drafted fourth overall by the Panthers in 2001. "I don't like it at all. It's really weird. I'll enjoy it; my parents will enjoy it, then we'll get down to business.'' Weiss has seen more than 100 teammates come and go. He has played for seven general managers, six coaches and through it all, he has yet to experience any postseason play.

Stephen Weiss has gone 10 games without scoring a goal.
Weiss has just two goals in his past 30 games and he's no longer on pace to reach the 20-goal mark for the third straight season. He got off to a fantastic start this season with 11 goals and 33 points in 37 games through December. He might bounce back in March, but we wouldn't recommend acquiring him under the assumption that his slump will end before the season does.

With 612 games in a Panthers' uniform under his belt, Stephen Weiss should tie the franchise's all-time games played record on Sunday.
Weiss was selected by Florida with the fourth overall pick in 2001. In 2002-03, he established himself as a regular with the Panthers and has played at least 74 games in each of his previous five seasons. Weiss is signed through the 2012-13 season.

Stephen Weiss called the referee's responsible for Wednesday's game against Ottawa "a joke."
Weiss was unhappy because he was booted from the faceoff circle multiple times. "They stand there for 10 minutes with the freaking thing in their hand. They're a joke," Weiss said. "They need to drop the puck and stay out of the player's way, and that's it." Weiss has a 54.5 faceoff percentage this season.

Stephen Weiss registered a pair of assists in the Panthers' 3-2 shootout loss to Philadelphia Tuesday.
Even with tonight's two points, Weiss had recorded only four in nine games during the month of January, which considerably slows his pace for the season. Tomas Fleischmann and Mikael Samuelsson contributed goals in the losing effort.
