Stephen Weiss has won the fifth most faceoffs in the NHL this season at 359 through 35 games. He has taken 662 total draws for a 54.2 winning percentage. Weiss is enjoying a fantastic year with 11 goals and 32 points, in addition to a plus-18 rating. However, he is listed as doubtful for Tuesday's game versus Toronto due to an upper-body injury that kept him out of Friday's blowout loss to Boston.

Stephen Weiss didn't play in Friday's 8-0 loss to Boston due to an upper body injury. "He'll get a couple of days off, but he was fairly tender there last night and I'm not expecting him for our game against [Toronto] Tuesday as well," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. Weiss has 11 goals and 32 points in 35 games this season.

Stephen Weiss has three goals and 10 points in his last six games. Weiss took a step backwards in 2010-11 when he scored 21 goals and 49 points in 76 games. However, he's bounced back this season and has formed one of the best lines in the league with Tomas Fleischmann and Kris Versteeg. All three players have averaged at least a point-per-game, with Weiss recording 22 points in 22 contests. Weiss could surpass his career-high of 61 points.

Stephen Weiss has been great for Florida at both ends of the ice this season. He has enjoyed an excellent start with seven goals, 11 assists and a plus-10 rating through the first 19 games. Weiss notched three points and blocked five shots in Saturday's 3-2 win over Pittsburgh. "Stephen is really the guy that runs the engine right now," coach Kevin Dineen said after the victory. "He does so many good things for us and [Saturday] he needed to do it on the defensive side and then he had three points. When he's getting that kind of production and also going big minutes against really big, strong men, that's a pretty valuable guy. He had a heck of a game for us." Weiss' play has probably moved him to the top of the list for the Panthers' vacant captaincy, but that's a decision that will likely come sometime down the road.

Stephen Weiss scored one goal and added two assists while registering an incredible +6 rating against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night. That means the two-way center was on the ice for all six of the Florida Panthers' goals against the Stars. That's exactly the reaction that the Panthers were looking for after Weiss was ejected from Florida's loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. His last three games produced this strange collection of stats: four points, a +9 rating and 20 PIM. Overall, he has 15 points, a +12 rating and 22 PIM in 2011-12.

The Florida Panthers plan on taking a different strategy in the shootout. The Panthers have been dreadful in the shootout, losing their last two decisions by the unpopular method. "I solicit a lot of feedback from my staff. I look at stats. I like hunches. I thought I did not do my job by not going on a hunch when Tomas Fleischmann had a couple of goals the other night and I didn't go with him," coach Kevin Dineen said. Second guessing isn't going to help much. Perhaps he should take on the strategy of putting your best players out to shoot, like most teams do.

Stephen Weiss registered four points in Florida's 7-4 victory over Tampa in the second segment of the "battle" of Florida. Weiss has an improved supporting cast and it showed again tonight against the Lightning. The Panthers top-line was at it once again as Kris Versteeg also got four points in the win. Defenseman Brian Campbell had four assists which all came on the power play.

The Florida Panthers are very pleased with their top-line combination. The trio of Tomas Fleischmann - Stephen Weiss - Kris Versteeg has helped Florida score half of their total goals. They seem to have found chemistry instantly, a big advantage in a transition year for the Panthers. If you have stock invested in any of these players, consider yourself lucky. They should see substantial ice-time, including the power play.
