Like many rookies, Aho's game shows remarkable upside, but short-term inconsistency. He has 25 points overall, but he hasn't recorded an assist since Dec. 30, a span of 11 games. Aho remains a great keeper, but his single-year value is restricted because of that inconsistency.

Aho started a new points streak, tallying a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-3 overtime victory over the Bruins on Sunday.

The 19-year-old snapped his modest four-game point streak Thursday and didn't score again Friday, but these two goals gives him seven scores in the last month. Aho also has six points in the last seven contests. With his minutes also trending upwards, Aho is a solid short-term addition with tremendous long-term upside.

Check your wire, especially in keeper formats; Aho offers an enticing combination of present production (21 points in 37 games) and long-term upside.

Unsurprisingly, there hasn't been a lot of game-to-game consistency from Aho during his freshman campaign. He has a respectable four goals, 13 points and 64 shots over 26 outings, which makes him a potential option in deep seasonal leagues. However, in most settings, you'll likely want to aim higher. The future remains bright for the 19-year-old winger.

The rookie isn't currently receiving much power-play time, but he's making the most of his top-six role and still owns nice offensive upside in deep settings. Expect there to be plenty more peaks and valleys throughout his rookie campaign, though.

Aho now has four points in his last two games and nine (two goals, seven assists) in 14 games. He'll suffer through some scoring droughts, just has he did earlier this season. But Aho is a talented kid. He's already on pace for more than 50 points this year.

Aho failed to crack the scoresheet Sunday against the Devils, extending his current pointless drought to six games.

EDGE Analysis

Aho has cooled off considerably after posting five assists in his first five games. That said, he continues to see a decent amount of ice time, averaging 15:25 per game with roughly three minutes coming on the power play, so as long as that continues, the points should follow. Bottom line, fantasy owners should be patient with the Canes' prized rookie as he adjusts to the rigors of his first NHL season.
